I had this problem last week. I know it sounds counter intuitive but hit up on the bottom of the wheel with the palm of your hand. It may take a few hits but that should work

I know it sounds counterintuitive but you need to hit up on the bottom of the steering wheel with the palm of your hand. I’ve heard others say to use a rubber mallet but I didn’t need to go that far

What seems to work best is applying constant upward force to the steering wheel with your knees, and continuing that while lowering the wheel. Assuming the motor hasn't gone bad.

Mine does this every few weeks. I have found that pushing the control-lever up quickly up, and then down gets it going again. I suspect there is some sort of locking mechanism that isn't releasing properly, but it does when the "up" direction is engaged. (I have mine set to do the easy-entry thing). Good luck!

I must say I love this forum! I had wondered if I was crazy and shouldn’t expect my steering wheel in my fancy new (to me) coupe to raise/lower at all. I just tried the enable/disable to no effect, but I could hear “click” sounds as I pushed lever down (but not up, at first). After several good closed fist whacks on top and bottom of wheel...presto! Now I have full range of motion and the enabled entry assist works too! Thanks!! Best of luck to others in this regard

I had this issue so I dug into the unit for a look-c and there two ways to make it come down. One is to hit the wheel up immediately after you push the lever down. The other is to go in and give the screw drive a nudge. All you could want to know is here, just look for my posts: https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-c...e-up-down.html

To keep this from happening to me, I've turned off the easy entry/exit feature and just set the 3 memory buttons up for that purpose.

Button #3 is closest to the dash, so same for me, #3 is "Driving" position.

On #2 the seat is set further back, lowered all the way and the steering wheel comes up to about 1/2" from the highest position(just so it is not on the "stop"). This is the "Exit" position

# 1 position is similar to #2, but further back another couple inches and the steering wheel goes up(same as #2), and forward towards the dash(about 1/2" from most forward position(just so it is not on the "stop"). This is the "Napping" position! lol

While moving position down, hit in the 10 o clock position to free it up.l. HARD with your fist. Then SCN code the driver seat ctrl module to limit the up parameters.
I know it’s old thread,
