2016 E550 Coupe Main resonator delete comparison videos
When I was initially looking for a Benz, I dove into available exhaust options looking for just the right sound for a tuned, but otherwise stock engine.
I couldn't find any videos of exactly what I was looking for. People had full exhaust upgrades, full exhaust deletions, but nothing in the middle.
Here are videos of my 2016 E550 Coupe before and after removing the main box resonator:
No other mods are done besides a Pressertech tune; the two bullet resonators are still present.
The change can be heard on cold start, through the mid-RPM range, and from the back seat. You won't hear much of a difference at idle or at cruising speeds.
I highly recommend this mod as it is very inexpensive, does not affect cabin noise, and gives the V8 the true sound it needs.

Sounds a bit better and if that is the sound you were looking for that is all that matters. You will notice a more of a difference when driving in sport mode. I chose to do the muffler delete and it sounds insane. Enjoy the new music, these cars come way to quiet.

Removing that resonator is just enough of a change to enjoy and not be bothered.
Personally, it is the perfect balance for that car.

So I now basically have the front cats, a X-Pipe that replaced the resonator, and the mufflers. Sounds awesome!!

those "front cats" are not cats at all. they are resonators. Your car only has 2 catalytic converters, just FYI...and I agree. Stock mufflers and no resonators is just right in the "good-noise" category.

I think " mid cats" is what the muffler shop called them. I believed him because they looked just like the actual cats that have the sensors behind them.

I can confirm. I ended up putting 200 cell secondary cats on, where the small resonators were. The resonators, look like cats on the outside but resonators on the inside. The secondary cats look like cats, but with a lot less material in them, i.e. a lot more air in the matrices. Said one more way secondary cats you can see through them but there is a matrix, the resonators that look like cats -- no matrix and you can see through it.
