e550 buyer needing tips
Hello all, what are some of the "MUST HAVE" options while im on my search for an E550C? Like what would you not buy a car with unless it has it?
I currently own a w204 c300 so I am not new to the Mercedes family.
Thanks!

This is a highly subjective question; one person's "Must have!" might very well be a "Who cares?" to someone else.
When I was shopping for my car, I rejected every model that didn't meet the following personal requirements:

- No white, black, or gray paint
- No black interior
- Must have COMAND navigation
- Must have Harman Kardon audio
- Must have heated seats
- Must have wood interior trim, including the steering wheel (absolutely no carbon fiber)

Throughout my search I'm finding that the majority of the c207's (facelift) do not have the parking sensors, 360 camera, and distronic optioned out.
How often do you guys use these features? Currently i dont have them on my W204 C-class so I'm not used to them anyhow. Are they a must have?

Yeap - don't have parking sensors, 360 camera, nor distronic optioned and don't miss 'em (since I've never had a car with them).
I bought my as a lease return with 15K miles. Designo Green metallic (looks like gunmetal gray metallic - the green specks are barely noticeable in the right light), beige interior with dark wood trim.

I bought mine as a lease return in near showroom condition, with just 12,000 miles. I've got the Lunar Blue metallic (aka Cavansite Blue) paint with Deep Sea Blue dash and leather seat faces over Silk Beige, and Burred Walnut wood trim. I really wanted green exterior/tan interior, but after searching for six months, I gave up and opted for the blue. At least it's not white, black, or gray.

If I could, I would have got a stripped out E550c.
-I hate Panoramic Roofs on any car. They all creak when the weather changes and take up too much headroom.
I never open it.
-The Adaptive Xenon headlights are cool. But if a reflective street sign is too 'Shiny' they dim to low beams constantly.
I shut that option Off.
-The Lane Keep option gets annoying and gets tricked by the sealant they put on the cracks some roads.
Shut that off too.
-The cooled *Ventilated* leather seats BARELY work. I have a 2011 KIA Optima that works FAR better.
Why bother using it...
-Back up camera. The car is ALL GLASS. Nothing is out of view.
I would keep The Biturbo V8, Keyless GO, and No B-pillar.
So Any 550c that tickles your fancy really...
Don't worry about the silly gimmicks. All E550C's all awesome.

I can’t tell when the ventilated seats are on in my wife’s car.
I wish sun roofs were optional. I never open it.

I agree about the pano roof, but not about the rest of those features.
The ventilated seat system is not a seat cooler; it only recirculates cabin air through the cushions (the functionality is exactly like turning on the blower fan with the A/C compressor turned off). Consequently, its effectiveness is directly proportional to the general cabin temperature. If the cabin is very hot (e.g., the car has been parked in the sun for several hours), then the air blowing through the seats will also be hot. However, if the car has been garaged or otherwise shaded and the seat ventilators are turned on in conjunction with the A/C, then the front seat occupants will soon feel a myriad of tiny, cool dots that comprise an overall cool sensation.

First and foremost....I dig my new to me 13 E550 coupe, but the last 4 days of sh*tty weather driving my wife's 99 C280 made me think of this thread. My E550 is fully loaded except for the Distronic option. My wife's C280 is loaded as well and really has been a pleasure to drive. There's no gidget/gadgets to mess with, just get in the car start it and drive! My 2000 CLK was the same way, just pure driving! It's the main reason my wife will NOT let me buy her a new car. She hates the new seats (8 back surgeries) and if she had her way she would option roll-up windows! She keeps telling me...the more options, the more to go wrong.....put the $$$ in the motor etc!!!! LOL
