I recently purchase a 2012 E350 Cabriolet, my first Mercedes. it had the front license plate mount installed but it follows the contour of the front bumper so the front plate will not sit flush to the mount. Am I supposed to bend the front plate to fit? I was assured this was a factory installed mount but due to the vehicle's age there are not many examples around me to confirm. Anyone with experience on how to mount a front plate on the A207?
The OEM Mercedes plate hardware should fill in the contour of the bumper and make the plate surface area flat. You should not have to bend the actual plate at all.
Would you know the part number of the "flat" mount so I can confirm. Also, I am not stuck on using the OEM part, of anyone knows of a flat mount that uses existing holes, I don't want to drill any more. Or if there is a cosmetically pleasing way to fill in the existing holes if I remove current one. I will try to post a picture when I get daylight to show the mount I currently have.
The dealer installed on of those F'in things on my car, now I have four holes in the bumper, each with distorted plastic around them so they look like little volcanoes. So if you insist on running a plate then I'd consider using the tow mount, if you have one.

I just took mine off, if anyone really needs it. The bumper comes to a point, but the holder is flush, from what I recall. I would contour the plate, if necessary. Again, I have one if needed for like $20 or $25 depending on the shipping envelope fiting.

Be aware that in some states, including California, a front plate is mandatory and you can be ticketed and fined if you don't have one installed. See California Vehicle Code § 5200. The fine runs about $200.
I just picked up a 2021 E-Class and am running around to find the screws for the Front License Plate (wouldn't want to have them too long to dig into the bumper itself).
Photos attached. You may be needing this piece, specific to your vehicle.
You'll need 4 thin machine screws M3 (/M4??) x 10-12 mm length. 2021 E-Class Front License Plate Mount Front License Plate Mount attaches to bumper with 3 screws.

Reason: Inaccurate info on Screw Size.

I am in New Mexico so we don't do front plates. i dont want to have the holes visible in my bumper so i wanted to put a vanity plate but since they are not always metal i cannot contour them. i have had no success for finding a 2012 model relacement as all i have found have the same countour issue as the one currently on my vehicle. does anyone have the tow mount part number. maybe i can hide the ugly holes with that type of mount and vanity plate?

I'll look at the part number for you.
I just detailed the holes in my bumper. I ran the tip of a larger sharp drill bit around the edge, then touched it up with silver, ymmv. Two little holes doesn't pother me. I'll snap a pic.
The_Judge: Yes I'm aware, but refuse to put an ugly radar reflector on my car to help them take money from me. Cops have mentioned the plate maybe twice in decades of driving but no tickets. I used to get away with no plates at all but two years ago I finally got pulled over for that. No ticket, didn't even tell me to fix it, he just said they're cracking down on cars with no rear plates.
They put the same stupid mount pictured above on mine. And my bad, three big ugly holes, not four. But it also damaged the paint around edges where the plastic made contact actually worse than four holes.
