Electric Steering Lock Conrol
Hi, I need advice. My Mercedes E250 cabriolet went to Mercedes repairer diagnosed with engine electrical problem - replace ignition coil.
This has been done. While at the repair centre they now say I have faulty electric steering lock control and quoted exorbitant amount of cash.
Does this problem with the esl seem likely to appear overnight with no previous problems? I suspect that the workshop has perhaps caused
this issue during the repair of the ignition coil? Is this likely?

Dealer got the ESL locked... 😳
i bet they're not talking about giving you a free ESL repair ?
I wouldn't be surprised they ran into low battery voltage and steering said sayonara to protect the vehicle .... good lock

Would you like to know the honest truth... ask dealer for the log print out showing when this fault happened.
The car archives faults with relevant data records (mileage, time, counts,...).
Good chance the facts will be incriminating based on occurrence frequency. The truth will become cristal clear, one way or the other.
With solid evidence, you can address Sce Mgr eyes to eyes about paying for busy work.
