Seatbelt Presenter Intermittent Issue

Seatbelt Presenter Intermittent Issue
One of my favorite little moments is when I start the car the seat belt is presented to me and once I buckle in, the E coupe gives me that nice tight hug to let me know she is ready for the road! I imagine others have similar feelings to the unique seat belt presenter equipped on E coupes and cabriolets, the issue is I can’t seem to understand when it will work.
I have a sporadic issue that at times the seat belt presenter stops presenting on the drivers side and then resumes presenting after three or four times of having car off then on again. There also seems to be no pattern as to when the seat belt presenter will stop presenting. I think it could be some type of software glitch as it does not seem like it’s a electric motor glitch since it does resume working again after a few missed moments of presenting the seatbelt. I also don’t hear any locked rotor or other electrical hazard noises coming from the door.
Anyone else have any issue with this and ideas of what can repair it? I don’t intend to take apart the door as I’ve seen how cumbersome it is to get to the seat belt extender main chassis on a couple YouTube videos so even if it stops working for good the seat belt function still works. I just won’t get any more E hugs

Thanks yes I am aware, when i push the button it also doesn’t move when the intermittent issue is happening. Once it gets back to presenting then the button works again.

The passenger side works fine. Just the drivers side. If I order a new motor can someone confirm is this the right part number?
207-860-01-82
I was told it is but wanted to be sure to get the seat belt presenter motor. When I checked a MB online part catalog it says it’s a height adjuster and that’s not what the presenter is. It does not adjust the height of the seat belt at all.

Thanks! Looks like I have the correct part. The disassembly looks a bit tough, will have to think whether to replace motor or not since I’m paying out of pocket.

I had an issue where it stopped wroking altogether (driver side). I ended up pulling the long skinny plastic track thingy all the way out and feeding it back in and it fixed itself! Maybe you could try to do the same?

I was able to do that a couple months back and it started working normally again. I will try to do it again but it’s been on and off to operate correctly since the start of the year. So I think it’s a motor malfunction. Perhaps I need to scan for the codes and will take it somewhere to do that since I don’t have that equipment.

@konigstiger do you have the “attached pdf” mentioned in this document?

I think it’s just error codes that need to be cleared. I thought it was a bad motor but guess that was okay since I did get mine replaced.

Well the temperamental issue is back. The drivers side seatbelt won’t present. The passenger side works perfect as it always has.
I bought a new motor and replaced it so it’s not a motor issue, the gears are perfect and there is no sound of any power coming to the motor. I went on Friday to reset the error codes at my mechanic. That resolved it last time about 4-5 months ago.
If anyone else has any troubleshooting suggestions let me know. Thanks.

I, like you, replaced the motor at first but the problem did not go away. $400 down the drain.
Then I took it to an indy MB shop. They diagnosed it to be the module in the trunk behind the carpet on the driver side. Mine is a 2012 coupe, I would think a Cabrio would be in the same spot.
The part number is A2079004400. You can pull the carpet back behind the driver side back seat in the trunk and verify the number. It's a small tan looking module, you can't miss it.
It took all but 5 minutes to swap and my presenter started working again. Only thing that does not work is the button on the dash.
Indy said bring it in on Monday and I will program the module to your car and it should work. The module came from an Ebay seller and cost me $40.

It's on the wall of the trunk. I did have to relearn the 2 windows index on the driver side after installation. No biggie.
I'll post if the presenter button starts working after reprogramming. Not a big deal to me as long as the presenter itself works fine every time I get in the car, but I like for everything to work properly.

Sure enough changing the control module did the trick. It is working great. I was able to get a used one on eBay $30 rather than buying a new one for $300+. My mechanic swapped it and did the update for free.
