Disintegrating plastic steering shroud

From what I have seen, this is a common issue with the pre-facelift A207s. However, it's not clear if you are referring to the chrome surround piece or the rubber-coated portion that surrounds it. My brown steering wheel suffers from both although not nearly as bad as I have seen in other vehicles. Note that if you look through this forum, you will find a number of posts about cracking/peeling chrome throughout the cars - steering wheel, door pulls, seat back handles...
I've tried researching how to purchase just the shroud (as you referred to it) and Mercedes while the vehicles were sold with color-specific shrouds (the sections around the steering wheel buttons), from what I can tell, they only sell one version now that has the chrome extended out to surround the buttons. I've also looked on ebay and all the used shrouds have awful cracking and crumbling.

I'm referring to the plastic wrap around steering/control column entirely behind steering wheel to dash.
My interior is Tan. The disintegrating shroud is Coffee/Chocolate color.
