2012 E350 Cabriolet
My "new" Benz
I just purchased a 2012 E350 Cabriolet with 41,000 miles on it. The car is beautiful and runs great but I get a "Distronic Plus Inoperative" warning on the dashboard when I try to engage the cruise control. Can anyone advise a solution? TIA

Could be the sensors
I too have a 2012 E350 Cab and saw the same message a while ago. If your car has 6 round sensors in the front bumper they could be dirty or waxed over. If they are dirty Distronic will not function. I cleaned mine with a wet cloth and the message disappeared and has not returned. Hope this simple solution works.

Cruise control
My car does not have ACC so the cruise control was not affected.
On another subject, I recently replaced the main battery after six years of use. Some threads on YouTube suggest a new battery must be "programmed" after it is installed. Others suggest that if the car is without battery power for under 10 minutes nothing needs to be done after installation. I found the latter to be correct. Only the clock was off by some minutes and it reset itself. If a dealer or indy tries to charge you for some programming of a new battery find another installer. I used an Interstate Battery instead of a Bosch that was installed by a dealer in 2017. If you can find an Interstate dealer you might save $100 plus tax as I did.

On another topic related to the same car…I have some wood trim on the interior doors & dash that have come loose or come off all together. I tried crazy glue but that didn’t work. Is anyone aware of an automotive adhesive that would do the trick? Thanks in advance.

The way I use it is cut small squares and place them a few cm or inches apart. Don’t need to put long strips.
I haven’t tried automotive adhesive for any project but if the tape is too thick then you may need to try an adhesive.
