Manufacture defected buttons peeling on window and steering wheel control

The parts are very cheap to replace the window buttons and steering wheel buttons. Do a search on YouTube and you’ll find easy to follow do it yourself replacement. For the steering wheel make sure to disconnect the battery so air bag doesn’t deploy or go to a local trim shop and they’ll quickly pop out the old buttons and pop in the replacements. eBay and Amazon both have many sellers of the switches and buttons. Also you can always change your steering wheel trim to the AMG steering wheel trim. I did that on mine and looks better than current trim that says “airbag”. Check my previous posts to see that.

Very common issue on these cars of these years.
Have a look at the C Class W204, those are even worse as the radio and AC control buttons do the same, ……. TERRIBLE.

I have a theory that this issue is related to the use of hand lotions, hand sanitizers, and eating/drinking while driving. Something is chemically interacting with the coating material. My hands are always clean when I get in my car and I allow no food/drink in it, and I've yet to experience this issue with any of the interior buttons/switches. Just a thought.

Interesting take- maybe that is the case! I also think it may be attributed to cars kept in hot/humid climates. On this Texas-based Ferrari channel on youtube, Ferrari's often have sticky/deterioted buttons (which they say is from hot climates, since cars from mild climates don't often have a significant issue).
Although that's interesting that you're in Orlando (a hot/humid area) and your bottons are fine. Maybe your garage is climate-controlled or is otherwise kept at a reasonable temperature?
In any event, I think they should have engineered the buttons to be more robust. You don't see this crap on Lexus to my knowledge...

LOL, well I guess that might eliminate heat/humidity as a potential cause (albeit based on a very small sample size)! Yeah, maybe it is mosly Italian cars with the sticky button issues.
