Star emblem on grille doesn't fit

I recently replaced my grille on my c207 to the AMG grille with the vertical bars. Everything went well but I broke the star emblem on my old grille so I needed to order a new one. The one I got is shown in the picture, I actually like it more than the original one so its not all bad. it finally came yesterday, and even though it is the correct size and looks like it should clip in, it doesn't. Upon examination, it appears to have plastic slots on the star that don't slide in to my grille. I could break the bits on the star to make it fit in and could reinforce it with an adhesive of some sort, but before I do that, if anyone could send a link to a star that looks like the new one i got but actually fits the C207 it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Was the new star made by Mercedes or some factory in China?

I bought it off Ebay for $40 so I don't think its OEM. Here is the link to it
https://www.ebay.com/itm/19570039127...oAAOSwFTdjNVpm
It doesnt show the back of it in the product pictures, but there are some weird clips that are causing it to not fit in, I can send a picture in a bit.

I think i'm just going to return it and get another one instead of messing around trying to make it fit. If anyone has a link they could send me to an emblem similar to the one shown above that would actually fit a C207, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks

Seth, you have a picture of the new grille? My grill was cracked and i was thinking about getting something different from what was originally on the car. I'm surprised the star didn't come with the new grill.

Good luck with the emblem. If it were me and the OEM one was going to cost double or triple what the ebay one cost, I would probably just keep the ebay one. Then just cut off the clips altogether and use 3M Extreme double sided tape to stick it on to the grille. I was actually going to do that to mine (since it it was slightly off center in the circular mounting hole), but once it was on the car, I couldn't even notice so I didn't bother. A couple of other thoughts: If your car doesn't have Distrinic, I might consider going with an emblem that has mesh around the star for increased airflow. Also, clear LED side markers for the front bumper really clean up the look on a white car (compared to the stock amber color). Either way, nice new grille!

PS: Interesting, I didn't realize that the 350 and 550 bumbers were so different.

I purchased a similar (vertically slatted) grille from eBay for my car and the original star emblem fit perfectly into it, although my car does not have distronic so the star isn't the "flat" type you have.

I’m pretty happy with old classic 2012 grill. It works for me with the illuminated led star.

I originally had the mesh star but I think that the matte one looks much nicer. I definitely plan on getting clear side markers, where did you get yours from?

My car doesn't have distronic either, I just like the look of that star more than the original one. I also broke my old star while I was trying to take it off my old grille

Search on eBay “w207 illuminated emblem” and lots of options come up. The one I originally bought from isn’t up anymore, it’s remained on for 2 years with no dimming. I have it set for always on whether day or night.
