Fluid Changing.

Hello again. I stopped by my mechanic today... and inquired about changing all fluids in my sweet machine.

He said:

Oil service $230.
Brake fluid service $260.
Transmission service $800.
Power steering fluid can't be changed, as it doesn't have a drain plug.
Coolant shouldn't be changed, but checked periodically.

So I scheduled it in next week. I plan to keep the car for a while, and want it to remain perfect.
Miles are 67,000 (almost).
2013 E350

Do those numbers look pretty good?.. or close enough?

Best,

Mark

B service from Dealer should have them change out Oil and brake fluid.
My dealer charges $300 for that.

You are paying $490 for the 2.
What does your dealer charge for B service which also includes cabin air filter replacement??

I believe B Service inclusions vary by mileage/years, so be sure you're looking at the correct inclusions for your vehicle's particular mileage and age. Then there are also other "recommended" procedures if the vehicle is regularly subjected to certain conditions.

-continued..

I stopped into a different foreign auto repair facility on Friday. A place closer to home, but they messed something up on my BMW (528e) many years ago..so I never returned until now. And his prices:

- service B $595. (special).
- transmission flush $975.

I didn't get a warm feeling in there.

My service advisor at North Palm Beach Mercedes has yet to return my telephone call.

I plan to have the work done at the first place. They serviced my 2005 MINI Cooper for nearly 14 years. I'll have the cabin air filter replaced, also.

Carry on.

Mark

Is there another authorized MB dealer close by? Also check the ratings for that North Palm Beach dealer at dealerrater.com

Good morning!

Yes, there is another Mercedes Benz dealer close by. Both Mercedes dealerships are under the same ownership. And...after years (ago) of very good service at Mercedes Benz of Palm Beach, I had an unexpected inconvenience after an A service in my (newer at the time) c280 sport. 1999, i think. The technician cross threaded the oil filter, and the oil sprayed out with-in blocks of the dealership. The oil light glowed, and the engine seized quickly. I refused to take the car back. I came home with a newer e class sedan (2001 i think). Both were not so great cars.

oh well.

and many thanks to all.

I agree with fellow posters, its about double of what I pay at my independent auto repair shop. Sorry it's so expensive in your area.

Greetings.

The repair bill was probably high, but I really like the car.

I do.

Best,

Mark

Thats all pretty spot on

I'm $600 for a trans service
$200 for oil
$200 for cabin/engine filters w/ MB parts
$200 DOT4 service

That extra $200-300 isn't going to be noticeable if you're working with someone you trust who actually likes your car. All the service was spot-on and the car will benefit a lot from this service every 2 years or so. The transmissions in these cars are fairly thirsty.

I don't have the hour by hour breakdown of labor, but I paid about $1500 for an 80k B Service yesterday, which included the transmission fluid change. Same place did an A service (120k miles) for my X166 for $150 the other day, so I suspect the transmission work came in pretty expensively...
