Gas Mileage
Let me start out by saying how much I love my 2019 E450 Cab! It was quite painful waiting for her, but I feel like I'm 16 years old and just got my Driver's License asking my parents every 30 minutes if I can drive somewhere to get them something. Short on butter? I'll go to the store!.... Pickup my sister that I'm always fighting with and can't stand? Absolutely! …. anything, ANYTHING to drive!
I am wondering about the gas mileage, though.... Sticker says 19 City, 26 highway (combined average 22). I'm getting like 13. I'm not revving her at all. It's difficult not throwing her into Sport+ mode and trying out that 0-60 in 5 seconds... BUT.... I'm strictly following the engine break-in.... So, smooth starts, etc.
I'm just surprised at the seemingly low gas mileage.
Anyone have an E400 with the Bi-Turbo that can comment on the mileage (or anyone for that matter)?

Hey Sack - I've had my '18MY E400 for 9 months now ... and "MissE" gets about 24 in combo driving and 29 Hwy ... your 13 seems quite low even considering "break in". ?? What octane rating are you putting in and what percent ethanol ...

putting premium gas in. It’s brand-name has. I assume it’s the normal 10% ethanol

Well, I failed to mention that mileage is exclusively in "C" mode and I run my tire pressure at the top end of the range ... good luck with your diagnosing ... hope others can chime in with ideas / thoughts

For now, 13 is the new 22. You'll soon get used to it. It's going to take a while for it to improve. Some highway driving as opposed to city stop start will help.

I did see your are in Comfort mode, which is important. When in Sport mode, it prevents the transmission from shifting to 9th gear in my observation, which pretty dramatically affected my mileage. 13 is low, assuming break in. If the same at ~2500 miles, I'd reset the TCU and see what happens.

Same here... I get 24mpg combined and 29/30 on hyw on my E400 Coupe. I mostly dive in "E mode", here in NC most of the hyws are a straight line and the mode where the car slides the road as if it was in neutral is great to increase that milage.

It's getting better.... I think it was because for the first 10 days or so, it was nothing but stop - start- stop - start. Like kids to school, then grocery then whatever. I think it was just a bit much. When I started a little more "normally" it has increased to 18 in the city. I know it's a crime, but I really haven't had a chance to take her out on the highway for an extended run :-(
