Lock the boot independently

I have a 2018 Cabriolet and I love it.
one small thing has been bugging me recently though.
i would like to be able to lock the boot so that if leaving valuables in the car it is possible give someone the key fob with the metal blade key removed.
I beleive it is called valet key.
This used to be a feature with Mercedes cars as I understand it, but I can’t find anything on this anywhere.
‘Have searched the manual and online.
Surely it must be possible to do this.
Can anyone confirm if this is a feature or not?

Switch the trunk lock button in your glove compartment to on, then lock your glove box with your metal key.

Hi Konigstiger
Thanks. I saw this in my user handbook too but despite crawling around in the car, feeling every inch of the glove box interior, I can't find this switch.
I am thinking that either it's included in the saloon but not the cab, or it's fitted to US cars, but not European.

Best bet, contact dealer or MB to confirm.

Yes, you are right.
I had a good look around the glove compartment this morning and there is definitely no lock/unlock switch
Thanks anyway.

Try this. Take out your metal key and lock the trunk with it. Hopefully your key FOB will now not open it.

Here is a picture of where this switch is located in our Cabriolets here in the US. If you don't have this, it could be a European thing, but I doubt it. If you can't locate it or the lock around the license plate as I suggested, give your dealer a call. If you find out, please let us know on the forum. Really interested about this problem.

Ah ok, thanks for the picture.
At least I know I am not going crazy! That is definitely not on my fully loaded car, so I assume not on any UK / European?? cars.
If anyone with a Cabriolet could confirm this one way or another it would be appreciated.
I will speak to the dealer and let you know the response.
Thanks again for all your efforts.

I have the switch on my '18 cab. Never noticed it until I read this thread.

E53 Cab
Multi purpose trunk lock switch.

My 2019 US E53 Cab has the switch. It also locks the console storage bin. If you have keyless access, (aka Kick to Open) this is also your "Car Wash" switch. It prevents the car wash from opening the trunk and washing the inside.

Your set up sounds great.
I certainly don't have this on my 2018 (April build) car here in the UK. I don't know why but the ability to separately lock the book and the storage bin isn't included as standard here. I will ask my dealer about it when I next go in.
The kick override is also a good option. I hadn't thought of that problem occurring, but it's a real danger I suppose.
I have my car hand washed so the boot opening mid car wash hasn't been a problem, but it could.

The car wash will only open the trunk if it has the key when it is directly behind the trunk! I guess you may have automatic car washes in the USA where you can personally stand close to the car trunk while it is being washed, but we don’t have that scenario in the UK.

I have been in my car (with the kick to open feature) in a car wash many, many times and it is impossible for the car wash to trigger the trunk opening because the key is in the car...

Please let us know what the dealer says. I'm dying to hear his explanation as to what you're suppose to do if you valet your car. I'm still floored that they don't have the switch in the UK.

I will.
It’s really strange, I agree.
I keep thinking I must have missed something, but I really don’t see how.
