2018 e400 coupe
Eco Start/Stop
Hey everyone,
I have a 2018 e400 coupe. Love the car but I hate the eco start/stop feature.
As far as I can tell you can’t setup the car to have this feature off by default.
Everytime I get in the car I have to remember to turn this off.
I hate not having power right away at a red light when it goes green. And also the car can sometimes (although subtle) shake when it starts and shuts down. Can be annoying.
Any my way to permanently disable this annoying feature?

ECO stinks....
I trained my wife the first thing she does after I start car is to ensure that ECO is off and then she puts on her seatbelt.....
Kind of like a co-pilot checklist...
ECO OFF?

I got one of these from eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/MERCEDES-EC...y5PW:rk:3:pf:0
Plug and play, no-brainer, remove once the software is installed. Works great — ECO On/Off is always off when I start the car. And unlike removing the fuse (a rather iffy proposition, IMHO, since we can't be sure what else that affects or if it will cause a problem when a software update is installed), this allows you to still use the on/off feature if you want to (e.g., in a severe traffic jam on the freeway) or need to for some reason (e.g., when you take the car in for service).
Well worth the price.

2018 S560 and 2019 E450 Wagon.
I notice too when the Eco is off in my A238 that when you put the car in reverse you get a real bad shudder. Even in neutral or drive you get a little bit of shudder to but nothing like when you put the car into reverse with the Eco mode on. Cant be good for the driveline.

I want eco start stop off, and looks like this device would work, but I'm scared of sending my VIN to Belarus, I mean that could be used to hack my Mercedes Me Connect, couldn't it?
Not that Mercedes Me works half the time anyways... truly shocked that MB can't get that right.

As for Mercedes ME, I could not agree more! Total POS! The app for my 2011 Cadillac CTS was far superior, giving me up-to-date info on the car's mileage, how much gas was in the tank, and the condition of the oil, any recalls, service requirements, etc. etc., and it simply worked.

It seems as if Mercedes finally got Mercedes me right in 2019 with Mercedes me connect. It really works. It does all the things that I expected from the last version and more. It’s much faster and works all the time.

The ECO start/stop works much better on the E53. It is so unabtrusive that sometimes I don’t even know it’s on. I still try to remember to turn it off, but it’s not as important as it was in the past.

FYI, I used the following gadget and it works. I know there are plenty of people who say, "I'll save $140 thanks, and simply push a button every time I start the car." I truly understand that. We all spend money in different ways.
The fact that we have to go to a third party to make a car we bought be able to do something that should be a default is silly. But at least we have ingenious people out there that can help us.
It doesn't say explicitly that it supports A238, but it does work for it, confirmed it with the seller. Guy was very responsive to questions and the item shipped and arrived quite quickly, considering it came from Belarus.

I turned mine start\stop function OFF and lost the ability to control the car with the app.

I installed the ECO off gadget on my car about a year ago, and I have no problem starting or stopping the car or locking or unlocking it with the Mercedes Me app.

If you're asking how did I permanently disable eco start/stop, see my post from the 8th of February. I bought a gadget from Ebay and allows me to keep eco start/stop off. Link is in my post if you want to buy one as well.
