Mercedes me connect in 2019 E Coupe and Cabriolet
So far Mercedes me connect has worked very well in my E53 Coupe. Much better than the old mbrace system. Last week I received an email saying that new capabilities will be available on January 18, 2019. There was a message in the app a couple of days ago saying the system was unavailable due to maintenance. I assume they were upgrading the system to provide the new capabilities mentioned in the email. The system is back up and working well, but I don't see any new capabilities. Has anyone seen any changes or upgrades?
I would like to see the ability to adjust climate control when the car is started remotely. It would be nice to be able to turn on the heated seats and steering wheel. The ability to remotely open or close the windows and roof would be nice too.

The initial commercial I saw on Youtube showed the German woman using the app to slowly pull the car forward out of a parking space in a garage (in case someone parks too close to you) but I havent seen this feature in the app either (not that I'd use it much but I don't like false advertising).
By far, the biggest disappointment in the Connect system is the regular web GUI you use from a non phone/tablet. If I attempt to acdess the Connect features from my laptop, the website is insanely slow and often times out with Gateway errors and other messages like "Please try again later." Incredibly annoying but I guess most folks are using the app on their phone and with the exception of the problems I note above, it's not bad.

Once entered, I can launch the app normally and all functions are available. So the "Connection could not be established" message is crap, because the phone clearly can, indeed, connect to Mercedes, it's just using a stale connection or something. If you force quit and walk all the way back in, it works fine. I don't think I'll be using this app much if I have to do this every time I want to remotely control my car or monitor it in some way.
I just checked the settings and user profile areas of the Android app and there is no possibility to turn on fingerprint or face recognition. The only option is to change the PIN required to do more advanced remote things like start the car, which you don't use to log in to the app.
So, the Android app leaves a lot to be desired. And I just used the MercedesMe Connect portal on my laptop and it's doooooooooog slooooooooooooooow. But at least it didn't gateway error out on me.

significantly better then previous iterations - it comes down to this - one touch on your phone and the vehicle should config itself so I can get in and go without setting ECO, sport mode, CarPlay etc all user defined parameters executed.

Mine doesn't have it and I was disappointed when ordering, that I wasn't able to spec it. It simply wasn't available. I assumed that it was no longer available on MY19 cars but another forum member who is based elsewhere in Europe does have it on his car. So, the reason behind this is a complete mystery to me.

Tesla’s “Summon” Remote parking system seems very basic. It moves only straight back or forward with minor corrections. I’ve read that Teslas’s next generation remote system will be much more capable, but they are having regulatory issues. BMW has a remote parking system that seems similar to Tesla’s current system and it looks like it’s avaiable in the US. Maybe the Benz system will be available soon.
