Instrument Display

Hi,
Just got my E53 Cab and couldn’t be happier. I’m still trying to learn some of the changes to the Infotainment from my 2015 S550. I have a question though. When I put the navigation on the instrument panel, is there a way to change the zoom level? It only shows my position and a couple blocks around me. I want to show a larger map.

Thanks,
Neal

There should be an icon on the nav screen that allows you to change the distances. Click on it and adjust by turning the round selector knob on the center console. Good luck.

While you have the map on the screen, all you have to do is turn the large control knob and you can zoom in and out - nice and easy when you are driving.

It’s really useful if you are on a highway and you want to zoom out easily and quickly to see exits ahead...

I think you are referring to the digital instrument display, not the main navigation display. I wasn’t sure if you could adjust the scale of the small navigation display in the digital instrument cluster. I tried this evening and found that I couldn’t change the scale either. Even if I zoomed the main display all the way out, the secondary navigation display in the instrument cluster remained at a close in view.

Yeah, I meant the small map on the Instrument Display. I’ve come to the same conclusion but thought I’d ask in case I was missing something. It’s too bad.

Thanks

`Thanks! I haven’t had this much fun with a new car in a long time. When I’m not driving it I’m thinking about driving it.

I have a question about the “Driver Assistance Graphic” display to the left of the speedometer in the “Progressive” display mode on the 12.3” digital instrument display. Does anyone know what the car in the circle at the top of the display means. While approaching a car in traffic, the car image shows up in the part of the display that shows the distance, 100, 200, or 300 feet. Sometimes the car in the dashed circle pops up. It isn’t displayed very long, only a second or two. I think it may have something to do with the emergency braking system, but that’s only a guess as it seems to pop up as I approach a stopped car. I can’t find any documented description in the manual or online.

It means the car you are approaching wants a drag race Not sure what that means I've never noticed that on on my E450 Cab. It does look to me like it's trying to tell you your approaching a car or something like that.

@TOM992 thanks for providing this info - I'l be sure to check this out on my car over the weekend although this may well be specific to the hybrid powertrain...

Can you tell me where you downloaded the 2019 manual?

The display I see in the E53 is similar to the ECO assist display described, but different. It doesn’t turn green or show the “foot off the accelerator” graphic. It seems to react to a slow or stopped car that could be a collision hazard, then immediately disappears. It is displayed so briefly that it was difficult to photograph. I’m going to experiment a bit this weekend. Also, I don’t have a setting for ECO Assist under “Assistance” in the on-board computer as described on the next page of the manual.
