Panoramic Roof
What are your experiences with the panoramic roof? I’ve used it a couple of times at slow speeds, but I gets noisy quickly. It does look really nice with the roof and all the windows open. Is there any maximum operating speed with the roof open or a speed at which the roof won’t operate? I’ve read that Tesla’s pano won’t open or operate above 80 MPH. I’ve seen no such limitation in the E Coupe manual.

No negative experiences. I just turn up the music when it gets noisy!
Only mention in the manual about high speeds:

Automatic lowering feature
Vehicles with a panoramic sliding sunroof:
if the sliding sunroof is raised at the rear, the sliding sunroof is automatically lowered slightly at
higher speeds. At low speeds it is raised again automatically.

If it were up to me, I would forego the so-called panoramic roof. I've had sunroofs on all of my last several cars, and I can count on one hand (one finger?) the number of times I've used any of them. I don't like the sun beating down on me, don't like how it contributes to the heat in the car, don't like the wind, don't like the noise, and don't particularly want to look at the sky while driving down the freeway at 80 MPH. I'd rather have steel and insulation over my head.
There's another problem beyond those. On my 2018 E400 Coupe there's a black glass panel between the top edge of the windshield and the front edge of the sunroof. Why that panel is glass is anyone's guess, but to me it's nonsensical to make what is essential part of the car's body out of glass (this is especially true with my car's Lunar Blue finish, which is nearly as dark as the black glass of the panel). While driving on the freeway a few months ago a rock hit that panel and shattered it from edge to edge, top to bottom, although it remained intact. Repair ran just under $1000, of which insurance covered $420. Part had to be ordered from Germany, took about 3 weeks to arrive. PITA.

I ordered my first Benz, a C400, without the pano roof for some of the reasons mentioned in this thread. The pano roof wasn’t optional in the E53. I have barely used it and doubt I will open it much. I do, however, Iike the look. My E53 is Iridium Silver. The black roof, black mirrors and black accents of the wheels look great in contrast to the silver car. I also like the extra light in the car. Overall, I’m happy with the roof.
