2019 Dune Silver Metallic E-450 Mercedes Cabriolet NEW Mercedes 2020 GLC300 graphite gray SUV
E450 Cabriolet the best mid size convertible period!

It hasn't been a year, but driving this convertible has been nothing short of near perfect in both luxury, comfort, styling and handling. It is so smooooth driving on the highway and such a pleasure to cruise top down or up with all the amenities at your fingertips. For the money, you can't buy another CAB on the road that will excel the E450 for roominess and interior qualities that it presents. The interior headliner along with it's sound deadening properties make this car almost virtually indistinguishable from a convention hardtop in terms of noise; you'd never know you were driving a convertible, unlike the cars of yesteryear.

The smiles and thumbs up I get on the highway is gratifying, knowing that I'm driving one of the finest convertibles Mercedes make. The widescreen displays including the digital dash are a marvel of technology, along with the different drive modes. The 64 color ambient lighting and the Airscarf are just the icing on the cake. You get incredible MPG plus a 362 HP V6 turbo to boot! Plenty of power! The interior...second to none with it's natural wood treatments and lighter trim colors. Modern yet stately and tasteful in it's looks. Turn up the Burmester, and you're ready to go!

For a mid size CAB you can't beat the E450. Just my 2 cents on a beautiful sunny cruising day!

Your car looks stunning. I do not have a cab, mine is an estate for practicalities, but I agree with all your comments and if I were ever to get a cab then this one would take some beating. 👍🏼

2018 S560 and 2019 E450 Wagon.
Darn it Rusty you are letting the cat out of the bag, more people might get these cars and then ours will be worth less when they stop making them, lol. I heard maybe only another year or two left for the E class Cabrio, can't remember where I read that. Is yours a 4 matic or a 2wd? mine is a 2wd. I think maybe that's why it feels a little more peppy than my 4 matic wagon. There is some loss in power with awd as it sucks a little bit of it up. But that was one reason I got this car was for the 2wd. I just like the feel of 2wd cars better and winter is not a factor as for me it is summer year round. Wish mine had the dual screen like my wagon, but the twin tach and speedo gauges look more classic and it's something different from my wagon getting in the cabriolet. One of the reasons I actually liked my 2012 AMG Wagon better than my 2018 was the 2wd. I can have just as much fun if not more fun though in this e450 Cab than my AMG Wagon so for me it was a good trade. Had some friends who thought I was crazy trading a 2018 E63 AMG wagon for a 2019 E450 Cabriolet. But the extra 25K got put into the E450 Wagon so that car new was only a net cost of 45K and the 45K was what I got for the 2015 S550 I had, so it was a fairly even swap for my two previous cars. It all made sense and no regrets. The one thing I would not mind having in the e450 cabriolet is a performance exhaust with a push button so I could have it sound like it does for normal driving, but then push a button to open it up for spirited driving on curves roads, I may look into a electronic exhaust cut out for the car and when the button is pressed it will bypass the mufflers. I would be interested in a hand held tuning box too, but right now it's just too expensive. The only one I can see who makes it for this car is AMR and that is 1800 bucks, I'll wait until they are closer to the 1000 dollar level. If anyone gets a AMR though let me know how it works out, because if it was really good I'd spring for the $1800. They claim an extra 100 HP, I'm not so sure though. Nearly 500 hp on this car would be good though. I almost feel like though I don't even really need that as this car to me feels like it's a high 12 second car in the quarter mile which is all i really need. I know the 4 matics have been tested at a 13.1 quarter mile so a high 12 in my 2 wd Cabriolet is not out of the question, I don't think anyone has tested this yet. I was just looking at a 1961 Chevy impala convertible yesterday at the Newport Auto museum and it had a 409 motor rated at 350 hp and was a lot more heavy than my Cabriolet. My E450 would blow the doors off that car, that woulda shut up the beach boys up quickly, lol (She's real fine my 409, haha) Amazing how things have a changed, a V6 motor beating the heck out of all the big old muscle cars.

I’ve had mine since last September and I absolutely love it. And you’re right... it turns heads.

Almost every single time I go to Costco to get fuel, I get comments and end up in a conversation about her.

Treated her her to a great wash this week (and my son’s car too)

Great cars, you have the same wheels as mine. Here's my car in front of Muscle Car City Punta Gorda Florida, very cool place if anyone is into hot rods. I still love the old hot rods, they were the best thing we had back in those days. My first street car a 1965 Pontiac GTO Convertible. Wish I still had that one.

Agree 100% on the 2WD Merc. Had no use for the 4MATIC since I don't drive my beauty in the winter. I love the traction and get up and go of a 2WD, and the less weight the better I always say. It is amazing the HP you can squeeze out of a turbo V6. I had my share of big and small block V8's in Camaros and Vettes over the years....still have my 454 73' Corvette. This CAB has plenty of horses for my needs, though a tune to bump it up an extra 100 HP is tempting.

Seeing that I bought this E450 CAB to hold to it, we'll just have to see what the future brings. Right now this CAB sells pretty good for MB and hopefully the trend continues. I must admit I see more convertibles on the road than I have in the past years; especially here in the Cleveland area which is surprising. The other day, 3 of us with tops down met at an interesection; one a Thunderbird and the other a BMW from the opposite side. We all gave each other a nod in appreciation at being members of the club.

Here's another beautiful shot of a Red CAB; my fallback color if I hadn't gotten the Silver Dune Metallic.

Definately better off with the dune color than the Red. I was sorry I got my last Amg wagon in Red.

I had so many red and white cars I really wanted a change. The Dune Metallic was the perfect choice for me...though I was tempted to get the pearl white at one point.

I notice you opted with the blue top Merc; I forget what interior you matched that with... the Macchiato Beige/Yacht Blue?

We had a 2018 E400 convertible White exterior with Black top and Saddle Brown interior. We loved the car, but MB repurchased the car within 8 months after having repetitive quality issues. Sadly, it left a bad experience with us. Maybe next time. Enjoy your convertibles….

It’s strange because I test drove a new 2018 wagon a couple years ago and did not really like it where as I really like the 2019. But ya mine is yacht blue/ beige. Looks almost like a white int. Gets dirty easy that’s for sure. I keep it like new though. The car is mostly in the garage. The wagon has to sleep outside. One car garage in RI. 3 car garage Florida.

What were your issues? I’ve had my share of little annoyances but nothing to make them buy back the car.

I’ve had the aux battery fail, had a sliding window not installed right, the right air scarf failed and I have a bad squeak sometimes when the car STARTS moving (not stopping) which I’m sure is coming from the brakes — kind of like one of the calipers isn’t totally releasing all the way. Of course they can’t hear it and haven’t fixed it. I’m just worried it’s damaging my rotors.

Strange how one car varies from the next. Only thing I noticed with my cabriolet was the drivers side mirror light on the sun visor would work intermittently, I took a small file and filed the metal down a little on the roller thing that makes contact for the light circuit and that fixed it, must have been a slight film on the metal. Other than tearing off the center console door which I did myself because the keys got locked in there, the car has been great.

The only issue I've had is some sort of software issue where the audio will not mute on announcements when the music is playing. It's minor, but they still haven't figure it out.

Other then that, the car has performed flawlessly for me. The biggest and most pleasant surprise for me have been the Pirelli Cinturato rf tires. They're surprisingly smooth and quiet.....which was impressive for me; I normally hate rf tires.

Since you are all sharing thought I would do the same. Special order took months but worth the wait. Have only had it for 1 1/2 months and it is great, especially with the top down. Now if it will only stop raining in the northeast!!!

Nice. Is that a 2020? Maybe those chrome strips on the intercooler boxes are new. My car does not have those. What color is the int?

Sorry about that. It’s a 2019 E53, which is the new hybrid offering with 429hp. It has a small 21hp electric motor that supplements the 6 cylinder to make the power delivery smoother, and to help (a little) with mpg. My last MB was an E350 sedan, so I walked into the dealership ready to buy an E450 cab, but they had this one on the showroom floor with a few thousand miles, but new title, because it was used by one of their Mercedes execs. I got it for less than I was willing to spend on the E450 cab (end of the month, right before the 2020s hit), so I am happy.

It has AMG badging, but the AMG specific forum is not very lively, so I posted here.

My friend with an AMG 63 is already being snooty about it because it doesn’t have an 8 cylinder, but I think MB has done a nice job making a cab that is usable around town, and the 429 hp is just a bonus to me.

The interior is black, with a hint of red from the stitching.

These are the "fake" amg's. They saw people already putting amg badges on their non amg e550s and they said heck, we should do the same and up charge for it. But it makes plenty of power and great on mpgs. not handmade so it shouldn't have a amg badge!

I would say so! They are beautiful for sure. It is a shame the market for these types of cars is dwindling away.

I am in total agreement about the 2019 E450 Cabriolets being the best convertible in its class. We had a 2012 E350 Cabriolet prior to this one. It was a great car but the 19 is so much better..... THE BEST OR NOTHING

We took a European Delivery in April. Absolutely the best way to pick up a new E450 Cabriolet. We spent almost two weeks driving through Germany, Austria, Italy, France, Switzerland and back to Germany.
