Hi guys I’m in the market for an e class coupe and sorry if this has been asked before I have tried to find a relevant thread.

Anyways I’m on the brink of purchasing a year or two old e class coupe and they’re all specced so poorly! Very few have both the larger command system and digital dash. Having checked on eBay they are available for about £500 which isn’t too bad.

I was curious is it easy to install these and code them or would it require Mercedes todo it with great expense? Thank you.

My advice...keep shopping until you find the specs you want. Retrofitting the dash system would be a monumental project if feasible at all. Good luck.

Agreed. The dash system is tied into numerous other electronic systems and sensors throughout the car, and it's doubtful that either the wiring between the new system and those other systems or the appropriate sensors would be present. Don't waste your time or money on such a project.

do you have any links/threads? Or guides to this? I imagine actually putting the actual unit in won’t be that difficult but coding is another matter.

best option is finding the right spec as suggested by most but that could take some time.

Coding needed for sure. Actually I don't know anyone who can make coding in US, and I don't know why nobody wants to learn how to haha

you need someone in UK
but trust me, it is not a huge unrealizable project.
Buying a car with all options on board is the best option. But adding most of them is not a big deal if you have knowledge and a laptop

Speak to Comand in Lightwater (j3/M3). They code, retrofit etc. They changed multibeam headlights to LHD by coding.

Cheers; I spoke to Mark & Richard @ Comand (Europe) Ltd and they really knows their stuff. Mark informed me of things that no-one seems to mention on the forum when doing this retro-fit. Mark and Richard have given me the confidence to get the work carried out by them. I should hopefully have my car in their workshop in the within the next couple weeks and will post results.
