'18 E400 4Matic Engine Replacement
What's up guys, I just had a question about replacing my engine.
Basically my engine seized and it has to be replaced. I had it towed to the nearest MB dealership (I'm from Mass, USA) and they had to order a new engine from Germany (as they said). My concern here is the length of time it will take to arrive in the United States; they said it's expected to take 2-4 weeks (It's been a week already). Does anyone have any experience in time frames for shipment of engines? Also, they said it'd take about 25 hours for the replacement alone, not counting the calibrations.
Advice would be appreciated it and thank you in advance.

What advice are you asking for? I assume this is done under warranty. It takes 10;days or so by ship. That’s not including getting to the port and once it gets to the US, getting to the dealer. 2-4 weeks is not unreasonable. Someone else will have to chime in on labor.

I'm also curious to know how the engine seized. If it hydrolocked due to water ingestion I wouldn't think it would be covered. Glad they are taking care of this for you either way.
Sorry that it happened, I am also curious what happened, please share if you want
The M276 is relatively reliable, it is surprising to hear about one destroying itself catastrophically. Either way, hopefully they get it all fixed so you can be back on the road soon, hopefully the wait won't be long. Good luck!

M276 is the engine designation for the 3.5L NA or 3.0L TT 60 degree V6 engine.
Do you have a V6 or 4 cylinder engine? Can you post your VIN number? It helps to understand exactly which vehicle you have.
Why did the engine seize?

The OP states that the car is an E400. I thought all of the E400's were M276 DELA 30 engines -- 3.0 liter V6 engines, twin-turbo configuration. That's what is in my 2015 E400.
I, too, would like to know the failure mode in this case, as these will be very expensive engines if out of warranty, and there will not be that many available used for independent replacements. (The E400 configuration is nowhere near as common as the 300 or 350 variants of the cars.)

@E4004Matic What caused you to involve the dealer and insurance?
