2021 450 Coupe is on a boat coming to the US.
Dealer calls today and tells me that the Herme Module is not on car and I need to sign wavier if I still want car. So I did sign Waiver. Not sure if I should Have. So car is suppose to arrive end of August or first of September. Was told that in January they will be able to install the herme Module once shipped to them. Hoping this works out. Will keep you posted and let you know what car can do or not do without this Module.

I also accepted and signed the waver for my preordered 2021 Mercedes e450.
Mercedes Benz Corporate office should have informed all dealerships prior to shipping. I is difficult to continue trusting a corporation that has continuously failed to keep their customers notified when cars are not built as ordered. ‘Nor does Mercedes keep customers updated on expected timelines in regards to expected correction.

Same for my E 53.
Vehicle Delivery vessel just left port after dropping cars off.
So now just have to wait for trucking to my state.
I also had to sign a waiver acknowledging lack of Hermes Module.
Besides that, no hands-free trunk access.
And no enhanced navigation feature available

Do they delay the start of the 3 year clock until the module is installed? For map updates, etc

Yes, effectively they do. The 3 years start when you first activate the Mercedes me services for a given car. They are not tied to the date of delivery, but the date of activation. I know this because I did European Delivery with my 2019 C63S Coupe and took delivery in May 2019. I activated the services in September 2019 when the car arrived in the USA, and they are coming up for renewal in September 2022.
