Ordering a BTO 2022 E-450C?

Is it possible? The MB USA website shows only 2021 builds. If you’re ordering one, what’s the delivery date? Are there features you want but can’t get?

I am buying out my 2019 E-450C lease for just under $40k. I could sell it immediately for at least $46k (CarMax offer), probably more. I want to replace it with a BTO ’22, not a ’21. But even dealer inventory looks scarce.

Must-haves include Massage Seats and Head-Up Display. Trying to decide whether to sell the 2019 (we have another car), or hang onto it until the market revives.

Could I get a BTO ’22 on the West Coast by mid-summer? What are you hearing? Thanks for any informed feedback.

Not sure what BTO is, but getting a car by mid-summer is highly doubtful imho. My 22, which I ordered Junish last year, has been sitting in Germany for more than a month.

oops, build to order. Just figured it out.

Thanks, Mikey. I hope they get it to you soon. Were there any features you asked for that MB couldn't give you?

Hands free trunk opening, that is supposedly all that is missing. I’ll be in “trust but verify” mode when it does show up.

I'm surprised the carmax offer was that low. My 2019 Cabriolet buyout will be $43k in November and it will probably have around 14k miles on it. Prices now are around $62k-$72k in my area.

Typically missing (now un-orderable) features include Augmented Reality for Navigation.

And I'm unclear if they are now always shipping with the Hermes Communications module or whether there is enough supply to ship with it installed instead of retro-fit.

If a dealer has an allocation for an E450C, they should be able to tell you the projected delivery date. If they don't have an allocation already, you might not be able to get one there in any reasonable time frame.

E 450 4matic cab MY22
I have been on an order list at Mercedes of Nashville since June for a 2022 E450 cab. I am being told that they have yet to be allocated a cabriolet. I see that there are very few available around the country. Don't know if I will have a purchase order much less a build order anytime soon. So you might check if your dealer even has an allotment for the vehicle you would like to order.

I think you are SOL right now. There hasn't been an allocation in months.

Thanks, IndigoGuy. Yeah, I was a little surprised at the CarMax number, too. I'm seeing MB Certified 2019s with under 10k miles asking in the low 70s. Not sure about the private market. I haven't shopped mine aggressively yet. Still waiting for MBFS to send me the title. They cashed the check pdq though!

Thanks, gmt58. All helpful to know. I'll definitely touch base with my dealer soon. Right now I'm leaning towards just going with one car until the market sorts out, however long it takes. So if my dealer says it'll be a year, I'll be disappointed but adaptable. What I probably don't want is a 2023 downsized version, whatever MB decides to call it.

Thank you, 2150john. Sorry 'bout your endless wait. Once we know what we want, that's the hard part, right? I hope your allocation comes through soon.

On a side note, the MBUSA website just sucks. The 21 E Coupe is still there instead of MY22 and the “future” hasn’t been update in forever. Blaming that on covid too I guess!

I'm guessing that since you can't get a 22 coupe, they haven't updated the site. Why tell you about something you can't have anyway. That would really rub salt in the wound. I suspect all allocations of the 22 coupe and cab were used by customers like me and dealers don't have and will probably never have free inventory of those models. I suspect the factory is prioritizing the most popular and easy to sell models, since they don't have the chips to build full production.

Who knows, maybe my 22 E coupe will be worth big bucks later being an extremely limited run.

True but how come the Canadian site gets updated despite Canadians having less allocations and inventory than USA (personal experience)? Usually, Canada follows MBUSA in lots of aspects. https://www.mercedes-benz.ca/en/vehi...s/coupe/e450c4

Hmmm, interesting, looks like there is a dealer ordering guide available for the 2022 E coupe in the form of E 53 just not the regular models (at least I haven't find it yet).
Found the E 53 one on another thread, thanks to forum member Wassaby for posting it: https://mbworld.org/forums/attachmen...uide-en_us.pdf

All 2022 E-Class order guides have been available since Feb/March of last year.
At this rate the 2023 order guides will probably be out soon.

My comment is limited to the website sucks. Not availability of the order guide. Thank you very much.

I should add, my complaint is about the USA site.

Wow, that Canadian E450C4 site is nothing like USA site. Options are very different.

E 450 4matic cab MY22
Finally. Got a call today and now have a build date of the last week in March for my wife's E450 4 matic cabriolet! After being on a wait list since June. Dealer was able to confirm that none of the options we wanted were on restriction. Of course he would make no promises about that or when the car would be shipped. He did feel confident the car would be built timely.

Likewise, my Cab, which was ordered on 4/3/21 and built on 12/1/21, is still sitting in Germany as far as I know. Dealer claims to have no info.

Both of ours will probably ship on the Titanic! We know how that turns out. Lol. Cries
