Eco Start Stop
The Eco Stop Start system has always been erratic on ,my 2018 e400 coupe. However, at this point it has been months since it last operated.
Has anyone had a similar experience?
Thanks

I bought a device on eBay that turned the default status of the ON-OFF "feature" to OFF (i.e., when I start the car, it's off)..It can still work if I should every, for some reason that is beyond my ability to fathom, want it back on — just a press of the button. I could reverse the setting, making ON the default state once again, by reinserting the device, but why would I want to do that?

I found it annoying, and it made the car less responsive from a full stop. There's also a question about the long-term impact of repeatedly turning the engine off and restarting. Not worth it for the miniscule improvement — if any actual improvement — in gas mileage, which was the only reason that manufacturers bought into the concept. YMMV.

I have a Hybrid 2021 E450. I get 35 mpg with the function. I susepct 3 years has improved the reliability.
And like other posters, check the auxillary battery. I had a previous model with this, and the battery stopped charging. And the Eco Stop/Start also ceased. Fixed the battery, and it resumed.
It knows...

I don't like it and turn it off routinely. I bought a luxury and performance vehicle. As such It should not stop and restart with a slight shudder every time you are paused in traffic. Also it should take off the line immediately upon pressing the accelerator. Thankfully MB put a switch on it so I could turn it off. GM was not so thoughtful with my Avenir. There are likely less intrusive ways of designing vehicles to use less gas and pollute less. If you buy a luxury car the cost of doing that should not be an issue. Of course some people go EV or hybrid. That is their choice, this is mine.

I used to do that, but eventually i got so annoyed with it that I bought a device in eBay to permanently turn it off. I can still turn it back on if I want to (i.e., if I were to lose my mind, for example), and I can use the same device should I want to turn the "feature" back on if and when ever sell the car.
