E450 C238 2022; 300E W124 1993
There are 3 rows of lights:
Upper fender section is white and does nothing. Upper trunk section is white and is both the backup and the fog light.
Middle section is entirely the taillight.
Lower fender section is red and is the turn indicator. Lower trunk section is red and is the brake light.
Upper fender section is white and does nothing. Upper trunk section is white and is both the backup and the fog light.
Middle section is entirely the taillight.
Lower fender section is red and is the turn indicator. Lower trunk section is red and is the brake light.

I got my facts wrong! Here’s the real story:
There are 3 rows of lights:
Upper fender section is white and does nothing. Upper trunk section is white and is both the
backup and the fog light (driver’s side only).
Middle section is red and entirely the taillight.
Lower fender section is red and is both the turn indicator and brake light.
Lower trunk section is red and does nothing.
So 2 large areas are not utilized, at least in the. US. Any thoughts on this?

I was behind a new C class and saw a neat trick (new to me anyway),
The turn indicator blinks amber through a red lens, so the entire assembly is red when not flashing! Very slick!

That was the case for most MB models outside of North America though for prior model years before the North American market MBs switched to amber turn signals?
