2018 E400 Coupe 12v outlet rant

I always had to plug the radar detector in the 12v plug in the rear bottom outside part of the center armrest just below the vents.
A pain with cord stretching all the way to the back.
How the hell did MB not provide a 12v plug somewhere in the front of the cabin?
The only car that I ever had that is missing one in the front.
This is my wife's car.
At least my 2023 M340i has one in the front.
Finally got that off my chest.

Some W213 has it on passenger seat foot well, close to the glovebox. I have a family member with a 2019 C238 so I could probably check to make sure but they took it for a trip and not sure when they are back, in the meantime, check yours first.

I share your frustration. With using the 12V outlet at either the side of the transmission tunnel, or the rear of the console, it put my detector switch too far away to be able to use it. So a few months after purchasing my 2019 S213 i also purchased a Wagan Tech splitter. It has a 12V, and three USB plugs; I plug that splitter into the car's 12V outlet, and put the splitter in the cupholder where I plug in my radar detector. In the event I need both cup holders at the same time, I just wedge the splitter between the seatback and the console, still allowing me close proximity to my shut off / volume controls. I don' t know if they still make the 'cup' version of the splitter, but there are others on the market. It has worked for me.

That is a good solution as well but need to buy one that has an auto short circuit protector or fuse or kill switch, something along those lines to prevent damage to the car's electricals. I understand fuses is also a thing in the vehicle but no pointing risking it.

I don't have one in the front ash tray nor in the passengers foot well. Sorry for the lousy photos. Only the rear ash tray.

Great spec, love that maple wood, anyways, it is meant to be part of the plastic part sticking out, there is a cover for it, I don't know what options you need to have that. So I am guessing with vehicles that don't have it, that part is just there with a strange placeholder cover?

As you can see, that long plastic tube thing houses the connection to the 12V socket, from your image at least, it looks like it is just a dummy port.

I wonder if the connection is already there but you just need to buy the part, I think the part number is 169 820 0351. Or is the connection actually missing altogether.

Tried to get better pics. No dummy tubes. No dummy caps. Nothing!
I wonder if having a phone charging trey deletes a 12v plug?

Here's a better image but no plug there.

This picture is better, I am talking about the top right corner of the image, that tube thing houses the 12V plug, some vehicles without the options don't have it, from your images, you don't seem to have it.
