My 1974 W114 saloon has a very klunky propshaft. It bangs about on takeoff and settles down after a few seconds, when the car reaches 20/30kph.
I know the reason-it is the rubber "silentbloc"in the prop support that is perished. It is a rubber donut surrounding the bearing through which the shaft runs.
The support is available, the bearing is available but the rubber is no longer available ANYWHERE.
I have found a very useful contact in the UK who works at GKN-major transmission suppliers. He is adapting or making one for me-very helpful chap
dave.leese@gkn.com.
The firm can supply virtually any parts relating to propshafts,on any vehicle.
Hope this helps someone

doesn't that rubber come with the support when you buy it... I'm sure mine has that on the spare part... I'll check in the box and have a look in a bit
