1985 300TDT
300TDT rear knocking
Hey guys,

I have an '85 300TDT which has been knocking in the rear of late. Car starts up and runs fine for a while and then the knocking begins. Definitely drivetrain related but can't pinpoint a halfshaft. Could be driveshaft into diff.. But why should it run fine for a while and then start knocking ? Could it be gear fluid related ?

Get it warmed up, grab a friend and go to an empty parking lot and drive it around and around in a 30' circle (right and left) while you or your friend walk next to it and listen.

does it make the noise when you drive straight or when you make a turn?

Go look at the back of your car and see what it says.



Being an 85 automatically means its a turbo.
