High Mileage Diesels
Just wanted to see what the kind of mileage everyone is getting out of their Diesels these days.
I have a 1998 300 TD and I have 143,000 miles. I saw one this week with 251,000 miles on the clock , never touched. What is considered high mileage for these cars ?

High mileage for an MB diesel would be 350K+ and its easy to get there if you take good care of it and feed it clean fuel.
Using raw vegetable oils is a guaranteed way to drastically shorten its lifespan.

My dads '82 240D has 478,000 on it. It got a complete engine overhaul about 12,000 miles ago. Hes hoping it will run another 400,000, and I'm sure it will.

I have had a 300TD come in to my shop with over 700k on the dash. I asked the owner about it and he swore over and over again to me that everything internally was stock/original.

If you use clean fuel, , change the oil & fuel filters regularly , use high quality diesel lub oil , change the air cleaned before it is needed & drive conservatively the diesel engine should last well.
I did have problems with fuel p/p seals leaking in a Peugeot 405 diesel , said to be caused by the new low sulphur fuel lacking the lubricity.

Tesla model S
95 E300 with 229K
Father in law has 95 E300 with 238K
Mine is starting to use/burn/leak oil but still runs good. My FIL's is strong and uses nothing. I hope to get her to 300K then pull out a few $$ for an overhaul.

Thats if you can keep the speedometer working that long
. My 240d's speedo didn't work for years (previous owner) until I got it, so now it only says 201,475. My 300D is still a baby with 154,000. One of the few cars that you dont have to worry about the numbers on the speedometer, just keep em rolling.
Does Mercedes Benz still promote the mileage markers for grills?? I haven't seen that in a while.
