Ask the insurance company to find you a W123 in good condition for 1500 bucks. They are probably offering you half what they could.

I'd tell the Ins company you're going to let the ambulance chaser attorney who followed you home handle the negociations if they don't start getting real in a hurry.

You might offer to sign a release for injuries/medical (assuming there were none) if they doubled thier offer.

This is actually a good subject for all who own classic cars. I'd rather I was not the reason for the conversation, mind you.

I'm capable of fixing my car, along with some help from my 40 years of experience body man Father. But, most people are not. So they would end up with $1700 in hand looking for a nice w123. Yes he offered me $1700 if they junked the car. From what I can see, I got lucky to find this car for $1300 in the first place. A warning to all, your pride and joy is just another old car to an insurance company.

So the estimate is $6,000. The adjuster claims the car is only worth 1700 at most. He wont consider any car outside of the immediate local area for comparison. So basically he says take 1500 and fix it yourself or take 1700 and go buy a used cavalier junk box. This is infuriating!!! When in an accident, immediately claim injury and lost work and anything else you can. They will screw you at a moments notice.

Do your own research and find the most expensive advertised 300D and show it to the insurance, they have to mach it.
