It was not a configuration offered by the manufacturer.

my local traffic department allows such modifications, but they wont allow cutting of the fire wall. so it is important if the engine fits or not.

'78 300D, more to come soon!
I believe the motor would fit, but it's a pretty heavy car to drop an RB in, don't you think? Would be cool though, I guess. Twin turbo!

u might want to compare 2 engines to see the external dimension, mounting hardware and where everything is. Sometimes suspension, steering, supporting frame can be in the way. Move rad forward too, use elec fan etc.

One guy drop a Merc5 cyl 300d into his Mazda B2200 pickup, he had to cut firewall back a few inches.

Is a lot of work for the gain sometimes.

I 've seen folks drop a 5 litre Ford v8 into a 123 body too.
U need to look at u need more power or just too much time on your hands?

Dont forget your rear end/ half shaft/ cv joints can handle so much torque any increase will need more mods.

Wish it could be as easy as changing a light bulb.

In Hong Kong probably UK too one can only swap same engine into the car and nothing else. Unless is approved by DOT.
