Ease of Maintenance?
I'm trying to be a diesel owner and have a choice of several. I'd like to learn to work on cars, now that I'm retired. Regardless of its other qualities, would you say a W123 would be easier to work on than a W124? If so, are parts available?
Perhaps even more important, are there as many "how-to" articles and on-line mentors as for the W124?
What else should I be considering?
Thanks.

Mechanically, yes. Frequency of maintenance, no. The W123 requires a lot more maintenance such as v-belts instead of serpentine, manual valve lash adjustments every year instead of maintenance free hydraulic lifters and flaky climate controls.
