240D 5 speed for a 300D Euro

Hello all,

I am a new 1984 300D owner and I've been refurbishing my vehicle. Like every other owner I covet a 5 speed transmission. I have found a 240D with a 5 speed and I was wondering if it is compatible with the 300D?

Thanks to all. Be well, drive well.

It is my understanding that they are fully compatible, but the flywheel needs to come from a 300D. Good luck with that!

Yes, 100% compatible. You only need to match balance the flywheel to your auto flywheel and shorten the 240's driveshaft 4".

If you don't want it, get it anyway and somebody WILL buy it.

I failed to mention that mine a 300D Euro with a 4 speed manual. I can understand that I will need to shorten the drive shaft due to the longer engine but should not the flywheel be compatible as is?

Thank you one and all.

Be well.

Yes. You will not need to alter the flywheel or clutch.
