BBS 16 RS for 81 300CD
W 123 people
What is the deepest dish BBS RS wheels I can buy. I think I want to buy 16 inch wheels. Can I buy BBS RS for my 300cd in 16s?
Will 16x8 ET 11 fit on front and back?
or do I have to put 16x7 or 16 x 7.5 on the front?
What is the widest 16s I can put on the rear? 16x8 16 x 9? 16 x 10???
Thank you for you knowledge.

Don't know if this helps you but I ran 17x7.5 225x45 up front and 17x8.5 245x40 in the rear on my 84 300D and have no rubbing at all. The et on my wheels was 34. I'm not sure but I think the higher the et the more the wheels will be sucked in to the car. If you where to run a 8-10 inch wide rim in the back with et of 11 they might stick out to much and rub.

My understanding with a low et that they will not stick out but will be set closer to the base of the 5 bolts.
So with a low ET you can have a deeper dish look, but it is the width, 7 7.5 8 9 10 that will extend your tire into the body and rub.
The larger diameter tires like yours are more modern looking, I think you give up acceleration and comfy ride with the large diameter tires. I am older and still want a meaty tire for ride and as much retain acceleration as possible so 16s is my limit.
Any input is great. Thanks!

Thanks for educating me a little more on rims and there offsets, like I said I wasn't sure. But why would bigger rim affect my accelration? Both sets of wheels had the same diameter 24.7in. I agree that I lost on the ride, you feel the road more but it's not to bad.

yeah your are right
You are right. thinner tire profile gives same overall diameter. same acceleration. ![smash](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smashfreak.gif)

Sure like the widest tires on the back in 16s and reasonable ones up front. staggard set up.
Can I buy BBS RS 16 x 9 in the rear?

I want the 60s 70s looks with my rubber hanging out the wheel wells. So if I have et36 I need et16 or less? This will give me a wider stance for cornering.

16s out the side
My incomplete understanding is that even though old sinners can be forgiven, you cannot have the 16s out the side of the wheel well.
Because you will hit the top of the wheel well as w123s have too much travel in the suspension.
Unless you go to real small diameter tires which is a different look.
or cut the body.

Do you mean It will have a muscle car look? Wide tires in back and raised in the back or
raise all 4s for clearance on uneven roads,
and lower them for cruising?
The car has nice lines so it will look rad! Definitely one off custom look and a head turner. Personally, I like the outside the body look.

I wonder what the consequences of going to a 10 inch wide tire in the rear
Lets say you cut the body to allow 10 inch wide x 16 tires in the rear.
I wonder what the consequences of such a wide tire on the rears assuming you use a like 215 50 16 up front?
Would the engine have trouble turning the increased mass and slow the acceleration appreciably?
It seems the ride comfort would be the same or better.
Not sure about the cornering.
