My 300D is getting flooded by rain.

We just had a big California rain. If it rains here, it pours.

I had about two thirds of a gallon of water in the left rear passenger leg space, and a little bit more on the right side. Little water in the driver's leg space and the front passenger's leg space is dry.

The right side of the trunk, under the plastic cover, had some water, and so had the left side, but the holes on the bottom let the water out.

I have, in the past, taped shut the sun roof before the rainy season, and taped around the rear window seal, which is so bad the glass is rattling in it when the engine runs rougher just after a cold start.

Maybe gaffer tape or electrician's tape isn't good enough for sealing?

What would you recommend to seal my car against water? (If this continues, I'll have to wear a life vest when driving in order to not drown in my car )

i suggest you removes all the floor rubber drain plugs this way water can seep out of your car, i had my sunroof installed with clear silicon and then put clear tape , i also replaced my door weather strips, but the water from heavy rain still comes in but this time not gallons of water on the floor but only moistened floor, now my trunk also gets filled so i removed the2 drain plugs as well. i think i have to replace the rear windshield molding, but its hard work as i need to remove the windshield. if it rains my w123 300d-t, w123 300sd gets flooded, but after the remedies i made they are just moisture on the flood

I have long removed the floor covering. There are no drain plugs on the floor in the passenger cabin, only in the trunk.

I'm going to check if there's any sealant you can get dry windows seals to seal again, and if there are replacement rubber seals for the sun roof that I could install.

try to check again, as my 300d has one drain plug on each floor panel, may be you have to remove the rubber coating of the floor, i never placed back my floor mats as it will make drying the floor longer as the water cant evaporate,

I have a European model that got imported into the US. I can see the metal of the floor clearly, and there's no hole there.

Today I emptied the car twice of water. Must have been a gallon and a half.

ah ic, mine is a us version 300d, if i were you i suggest you drill a hole so that water can seep out, or else water will ruin your floor, i drilled my 280ce its a euro model, just make sure you dont hit anything underneath the car like fuel lines or brake lines

You should replace the front windshield seal. The water comes in and runs to the rear floor. I recommend getting the seal at the dealer. Aftermarket seals are crap.

Quite often, (in three of mine) a small hole rots in the firewall below the battery box (there is a metal or plastic channel there which catches crud and holds it against the firewall) once you clean the channel and fill the hole with something the water goes away
