After I got my ticket I wanted to get a radar detector as well, but I was looking into the Valentine One. If I got it I would of connected it to my map light section like the pictures below.

that bel unit is a nice unit. it talks to you. It works really nice too.

I don't speed so I don't need no radar detector. Definately install it cleanly with a hidden cord.

When I used a radar detector, I got some wire, a fuse holder, and power plug ends from Radio Shack, and hard-wired the power from a switched power source at the fuse box, around the window, to the clip point at the visor on a few of my cars. Except for the last few inches of slack to the visor which I could tuck away, the wiring was completely invisible. There's nothing like doing the job right. Don't neglect using a dedicated fuse, it actually did it's job at one point when the wiring insulation chafed and shorted. You certainly don't want to mess with MB electricals.

110 in a 50mph zone....even with a radar detector, I don't think you would have been able to slow down in time to avoid the ticket.

Make sure you double check if the radar detector is legal in your state. Otherwise having it out like that will get you another nice ticket and a very irate cop.

I've read about a car "bra" that absorbs the laser. I was browsing the magazine while at the store so I don't remember who makes them. Maybe someone on this forum will know.

or you can install it like I showed in the pictures above and it can be very well hidden from anyone especially cops.

i had the same thing in my w123...... i know it sounds crazy... why put a radar detector in a diesel..... it was a nice little set up... once i turned the car on the radar would turn on..... the radio shack part is like 10 bucks... the wire was really easy to hide.... i had it wired into my glove box and it fed power off the light bulb in their.... i had the radar suctioned behind the mirror much like the picture above..... only reason i dont have it anymore is that someone stole the radar one day when i had my windows down.....

anyways.... i guess my point is... go to radio shack......

thanks boyz, hey ashman i cant wait to hear this talking feature, i have it turned to talk mode but im not driving my car till it gets fixed so itll have to wait another cool thing is i can hook up a jammer to it, bel makes a jammer that goes with this for like $150 i think. so then when im going 110 in a 50 and i pass the cops, there guns dont say anything and they scratch their heads. plus photo radar is done by normal people not cops. ill get that cord one of these days but for now its ok where it is i think. later yall. Post some of ur funny rada stories if u have any

one of the cool features is it will let you know when a fire truck or ambulane or other city type vehcles are around, as well as will show amber alerts as far as I know...

By the way you can add this to the rx65 as well..
http://www.beltronicspro.com/lp905.html

great article comparing the bel 65 to the new escort and to the v1...

http://www.radartest.com/article.asp?articleID=9090

another good review... http://radar-detectors.com/products/beltronics/rx65.asp

another review and test of it..
http://www.myradardetector.com/bel_rx65_tests.htm

My boss sells these. we cant even keep them on the shelves, they sell quick.

If I were to get one though, I would want this one, but witht he full package of the plus addition.
http://www.beltronicspro.com/rx75.html

I have this and it is cool as hell I havent actually played with it much as I never have the open road to do it and havent dialed it in with allt he settings, but it is cool. I have the Gx2.

nice ash, all that is wonderful information. im really excited to start using it, and yes im already planning on adding the laser pro 905 to the arsenol. fricken cops can leave me alone. i dont think this stuff is illegal here either, but if it is ill add it to the list.. weed, tint, winshield tint, corners,, i dont like following the rules all the time. i figure its my car and no one can regulate anything on it, that's why i have the radar detection, if they get me on a pesky ticket it will snow ball into my car being towed, me prob gettin arrested... thousands in tickets... lets just say i dont have the best luck with the local law enforcment. But dont get me wrong im a good guy with good intentions. dont get the wrong impression, later yall im really enjoying this thread, thanks again ash and everyone else keep the comments comin

Not wanting to start a war here or anything....but why not just drive the speed limit or something more reasonable like 55-60. I mean, the limits are there for a reason.

The speed limits on the interstate system are in place for revenue generation, same as toll booths and parking meters. Every other reason is pretty much BS, something obvious when you look at the rest of the world. I don't speed in populated areas (I've yet to get any speeding tickets, and I own 3 Porsches), but on the open road I obey the laws of physics, rather than those of money-grubbing bureaucrats.
