300ce Vs E320 Coupe
I read somewhere that the 1990-93 Coupes are faster then the 94 95 Coupes. Something about the 94 and 95 kicking in at 4000rpms while the older ones do it have a more consistent power.
What do you guys know about this?

300CE - 24V was rated at 231hp I believe and the E320 was 217hp.
I'm not sure if the 300CE-24V is part of the M103 family, but I know that it had a much wider powerband (redlined at 7000) and put out slightly more power.
If you drive a Benz with an M104 I-6 (E320) you will feel that ~4000rpm the motor will start pulling much harder. This is when it switched to the higher lift cam and the difference is noticable. If you've driven a DOHC V-TEC Honda you'll feel the same thing (when the motor switches to the 'hot' cam)but it the Benz its much more subdued.

Thats interesting I didnt know they had 231hp. When I go into autotrader research and compare, and put the 93 300ce compared to 95 320 coupe it sais that they are both 217hp and 229 ft-lbs, but the 92 300ce has 217hp but 195ft-lb. Could they be wrong?

Both the 3.0 liter six found on the 1990-1992 300CEs and the 3.2 liter six found on the 1993-1995 E320 coupes made 217hp.
Many folks have the misconception that the motor changed with the 1994+ exterior updates, when in fact the 300CE for 1993 has a 3.2 liter engine.
The 1990-1992s had 195 lb.-ft. torque.
The 1993-1995s had 229 lb-ft. torque.
Top speed on the 1990-1992 cars was 149mph (redline 7000)
Top speed on the 1993-1995 cars was 144mph (redline 6400)
Hope this helps!

The 177hp M103 SOHC was only in the 300CE in 1988 and 1989. The sedans continued to use the M103 through the 1992 model year, when the 400E and 500E were introduced on these shores.

The UK version of the 300-24v put out 231bhp because it was available without a cat. By 1993 all UK cars were required to have them so the 320 puts out 217bhp.
I think that's were the confusion comes from.

I drive a '93 300CE Convertible (first year of the 124 convertible in the US). It is essentially the same as the '94 E320, except that it is pre-facelift. It has the same m104.9 3.2L DOHC engine as the '94 - '96 e320. I don't know if there were any electronic engine management changes between '93 and '94. I do notice the increase in pull at about 4000 RPM. In fact the car feels underpowered compared to our 2011 C300 until it hits 4000 RPM.

1989 300E and 2004 C230
I have a 1990 300CE and I loved the car. Yes, US specs are 217 hp. I only got her up to 133 mph and I backed off. She definitely felt good at that speed and I could've done more. I just didn't want the CHP to take her away from me!
I was told that the motor in the 300CE was the same one used in the SL of the era. I still own a 300E, but that car doesn't have the same motor. Less hp than the CE.

Wiring harness issues on 93CE / 94-95 E320
The biodegradable wiring harnesses (there are 2 on each motor) are on all 1993 - 1995 E Coupes and Cabriolets.
These are serious safety issues which must be replaced.
