Someone backed into me!
Last night I approached a stoplight and all of a sudden I see the reverse lights on a 2001 BMW. I tried to put it in reverse quickly but my 300E reacts very slow(2 seconds) to transfer gears. I heard the crack and here it was. Nothing much, just the grill I just put in recently was bent in. Her car was spotless on the other hand.
In conclusion, she wants to avoid the whole insurance thing and offered to pay whatever that was damaged. Do yall think anything else could have been damaged? She didn't ram me hard, kinda just pushed herself slowly in my grill. I haven't got an estimate yet but i'm pretty sure it is only the grill.
Here's the fun part. I can basically pick any grill I want. Any suggestions? Post pics pleaseee.

Well, here's my estimate with $44/hour body work since it's not a mechanical issue I came up with these charges.
O.E.M. grille & frame assy part# 124 880 07 83 + labor 0.6hr
O.E.M. grille ornament part# 124 880 00 86 + labor 0.3hr
O.E.M. grille seal part# 124 888 00 97 labor incld
The total would be:
$437.90 w/Illinois tax included.
Now, go get your money, man - then worry about a grille.

check your radiator and your radiator fans. if she bent the supports behind your grille the fans will rub. addtionally if the upper structure got bent then it could lead to a radiator prob. just open your hood to check those.

lots of cars
There is enough space between the grill and the radiator fans so i don't think there was a lot of damage there. All you need to change is the grill and frame. It only takes 20 min to change. Should be around $150

wheres the rest of your hood star?
That happened to me once. stray golf ball took out the center of the star, but didn't touch anything else...
I have since shaved that sucker off.
Sorry to hear about the car. your grill insert was nice I always liked that style.

Well, my hoodstar was actually stolen. I don't know why someone would steal it but one day I looked and it was gone after a day at the mall. Anyways, I can't even open up the hood because the latch is nowhere to be found. Heh, I kinda wished that she hit me a little harder so my stock lights would be replaced. They are old as hell.
And to why she reversed, we were next to parking spaces to the right of us and she backed right into me trying to get into the open parking spot.

I like this one
Menaceboy's grille is the nicest and most expensive grille insert that I have ever seen.

My understanding is that he purchased it from http://www.m-h-w.de/
I found out that Koenig USA/Ritec International, d.b.a. Koenig Seats and Lights, is the appointed importer and distributor for m-h-w.de in the US
Phone 1-800-604-6776
email: ritec@earthlink.net
I asked if the insert was solid chrome and they told me the chrome is a coating and nothing exists in solid chrome. They said the insert is fully chromed and solid! What the exact material composition is inside is not known. But be assured that we sold many of them and every customer was very pleased with the look and quality. We would have to order this from Germany, which could take easy 4-6 weeks
Thanks again
Karl

Note that this is old information, but it may help you find the nicest grille I have ever seen.
