Pretty sure the tires are too wide for a W124 ...

Tires will definately be too tall. I think the wheels are the AMG Styling II's in 8.0x18 ET31 & 9.0x18 ET35... super aggresive on a W124... If the wheels are staggered, they will not work. If it is 8.0x18 ET31 all around, you can run them on your W124 with 225/40R18 but some serious fender rolling is a definate must. Here are the AMG wheels that will fit the W124's:

AMG 170 400 0102 Styling I 7.5x17 ET37 (225/45R17)

AMG 202 400 0402 Styling II 7.5x17 ET35 (225/45R17)
AMG 129 400 1902 Styling II 8.0x18 ET31 (225/40R18)*

AMG 170 400 0402 Styling III Silver 7.5x17 ET37 (225/45R17)
AMG B6 603 1183 Styling III Sterling Silver 7.5x17 ET37 (225/45R17)

AMG B6 603 1026 Styling IV Silver 7.5x17 ET37 (225/45R17)
AMG B6 603 1302 Styling IV Sterling Silver 7.5x17 ET37 (225/45R17)

AMG B6 603 1030 Styling III (2-piece) 7.5x17 ET37 (225/45R17)
AMG B6 603 1045 Styling III (2-piece) 7.5x18 ET37 (225/40R18)*

*May require fender modification

I'm running 225's all around on my W124 and no problems at all. Offset is the key here. Paul, I'm pretty sure you will be fine with the E55 wheels. I would add 225's or 235's instead of 245's though. You will definitely run into problems with a 245 size tire.

luke frankly has his head up his ***. he looks at some dumb book or makes some random guess. why not ask luke what bolt pattern a 124 runs. we all know the answer.

on 17's you can run 235's all the way around
on 18's you can run 225 up front and 235 in the rear.

Thanks everyone for the input. I really appreciate it. Now, all I need to do is find a set of the wheels for a good price.

I agree with amg_Eric....I had 235's on my 17's (et35) with absolutely no problems. (It was a different story once I lowered it, though)

Then explain a little bit more than what you've posted. They are just AMG Monoblock wheels.

Actually, you're both right. The wheels in question are the AMG Styling II, also known as the Monoblock II. The 8.0x18 ET31 wheels will fit the W124 on all 4 corners using 225/40R18. If the car is lowered, a fender roll is advisable, but it is hard to tell until you fit check the wheels and tires on the car and test the suspension at maximum compression.

Now... if the wheels end up being staggered in 8.0x18 ET31 and 9.0x18 ET35, I doubt the rears will fit a W124 without some serious modifications.

Actually all of the E-Classes (W124 1986-1995, W210 1996-2002, & W211 2003-present) all have a 5x112 bolt pattern. All 3 chassis also share the same centerbore of 66.6 mm. The W124 & W210 use 12x1.50 lug bolts as their mounting hardware. What changed on the new W211 E-Class are the type of lug bolts. The current chassis E uses 14x1.50 lug bolts. This is why wheels from a 2003 or newer E-Class will not fit the W124 or W210 without getting some custom lug bolts made that will seat properly (a 12x1.5 lug bolt with a custom seat that matches factory 14x1.5 lugs). Using a W211 wheel on a W124 or W210 without custom lugs will probably result in the wheel flying off the car while driving.

Since the wheels in question by Paul-HB are from a 2000 E55 W210, they are the AMG Styling II wheels which are 5x112 and are manufactured to use 12x1.5 lug bolts so no prob. It's only if he's dealing with a 8.0x18 & 9.0x18 staggered fitment that he will run into problems.

pretty simple. 8" wide is the widest you want ona w124 for wheels unless its a 500e/e500..

offset is key as well. 235's wont work without serious fender rolling and other modifications on a lowered w124 with 28mm offset and 8" wide wheels, because they will rub like mad.

18x8 with an offset of 31 should work fine, tires 225's would probably be best.

It was a simple question ..will 2000 E55 wheels/tires fit a 1993 TE?
The simple answer is no, they won't. The rears on the E55 are 9x18 which is too big. Also the tyres are the wrong size.

very very old post... (just ran across this through a random search) Just FYI: I had looked at the offset on the rim off my 300TE 4MATIC and it's stamped 45 with 6.5 width (stock tire size 195/65 IIRC)

225/40/18 with ET 35 rubbed on my 300E (lowered) - both front and rears.

Had to switch to 215/40/18, and rubbing stopped.
