W124 rides again, in Korea!
Some of you may already know this, but Mercedes licensced the W124 platform to a korean company who built a W124 based sedan called the Chariman. Apparenlty the chassis, engine, tranny and suspension are all mercedes parts.
you can look at it here:

It's been going on for a long time now. That company also makes vans, SUVs, and crew cab pick-ups using mb parts. I know the "chairman" uses the standard six cylinder engine while their van and SUV models utilize the 2.5L diesel engine. When I lived overseas there was a mercedes benz van that was very popular. When people got word it was assembled by a korean company, they would buy the cheaper korean version and replace the emblems w/ MB ones. Kinda funny.

That's pretty cool that some of the w124 parts are still being used, even though it's an older design. I don't really like the body design, but there are definite resemblences to a Mercedes. That hood ornament is pretty interesting too.

They're intended for use in thirdworld nations or remote areas. It was meant for those who want to know they have the MB quality and design yet won't feel bad when they have to cross a creek or traverse pot hole ridden street. And trust me, they have some nasty a$$ pot holes.

hehe havent heard about the "chairman" before, only the Musso and Rexton...
Seen a couple of Musso's in Denmark over the years, and the Rexton has been selling good because of the huge taxes Denmark has on Cars/Added equipment...
The Rexton uses the ML's platform and 270(now 280CDI) engine. Seems to be working.
