Repair Report on '95 W124 E220

I would like to share with you about my repair history on my W124. I got this beauty in December 2005 with only 35,000km on the clock. This is my first MB too. I am running on Michelin XM1 205/65/15. Thinking about to upgrade to 215/55/16.

During the last 4 months, I have replaced the following items to stop engine oil leak, air con service, chassis service, cooling system, etc. The car runs great now. The price may look high to you, but it is due to the country where I live. I have no choices.

Apa kabar?

That's a bucket load of parts to replace!

Trust me though, it's not too bad.

I had to replace the evaporator core in my E420 (1995) and a few vacuum actuators for the climate control system and the little light bulbs while the dashboard was taken off.

Total cost was $4300....

I've always wanted to own a 300CE in Indonesia. Not sure I want to anymore :p

One thing I don't understand. My 230E back home (jakarta) developed those white spots on the instrument cluster. Do they all do that, is it a function of the weather?

The E420's was always flawless though.

White spots on the instrument cluster? What do you mean?

That list doesn't seem excessive. Most of it is related to the 30K service. The wiring harness is an unfortunate (and large) expense to fix a design flaw. I'm surprised you had to spend money on suspension issues. No car should need it at 35k.

When I bought my car at 52K, I did all the maintenance and repair that it needed the first year to bring it up to snuff. Had I given it to a shop, I'm sure it would have cost me $4K to $6K.

$4000 is not a down payment on a Hyundai. Instead, this list appears to bring your car into the next pass of a few years with minor issues only. I do not care what anyone tells me my cars are or aren't worth, they are mine, paid and playful, and will be around for years.
