Wink how wide can i go on the rear wheels on a e320??

i know if i had a 500e, i would be able to go with a pretty deep wheel. However, i have a 94 e320 convt., i was thinking of a 19", 8.5 in the front and 9.5 in the back. What do you guys think, will it work??

Cool

what if i go 20" X 8.5/9.5??
Either way i want a tight look, if i get 19"s, i'm going to lower it. If i go 20", i probably won't need to or won't be able to lower the car.

Ha 94Eclass I give you points for trying!

I don't think you can buy tyres to match the rolling-diameter of the originals wheels for those 20x9.5. And there is no way you are going to fit them on without some bodywork. Adjusting the camber like Makahveli said would help a lot, but yeah not street legal. Plus you can say goodbye to the cushy ride. But don't let me put you off after all it's your car.

Oh and the largest offset you could have at the front would be about 28mm anymore and it probably won't fit, though the rear is more tolerant.

Dude 20" i think are nice, but i dont think you can lower your car. I wanted to go with 20" wheels untill i seen this car. The rims look like 20x9.5 all round. So i think i "might" consider 19" so i can get the extreme drop of my car.

8" front and back??
What it is, is the fact that we try to incorporate the new mb look with the big/wide wheels on an older classic car and it dosent quite work out unless you have a 500e w/ the wider fenders or do some modifications.
I gotta say, you're car looks fantastic, it looks like it's brand new, if you repainted it, they did a great job. What size are those wheels?? and what exhaust if you dont mind my asking??

your probably won't believe me, i dont even believe it, but i'm from miami,fl where the "big rims" is the style and a friend of mine told me he saw a car like mine with 22" wheels w/ like a really skinny 255-30 series tire. I can imagine the ride on those wheels.

That whole big wheels with small fender thing is such a ghetto *** afro-american trend. I mean it's cool on a POS caddy or Buick, but on a W124 Benz? Come on wtf!

Anyway, those wheels were 18x8 AMG replicas from www.bekkers.com That's original paint. Exhaust was some cheap *** Arospeed exhaust I got pretty much for free.

I sold that car some 3 years ago or so.

i dont think u had to say it like dat, but if you have ever been, down here. You will see that it's not only african-americans which i happen to be. Thats like me sayin in cali, those mexicans love ridin on those small-*** rims. It's just not called for and i dont know what u mean about small fenders. I dont like anything that dosen't fit in the fenders. I love the tight look, just enuff to where its not rubbing or scrubbing on my fenders.

Well from my own personal experience through extensive travelling across the US, the trend is beloved by our african american brothers. As for saying in cali that mexicans right on the small *** rims, it can only be true. Nothing racist intended by it, it's just the stereotype that fits the people. Like white boys like their lifted trucks, asians with their hondas etc :P

Anyway, don't do the dub deuces on a W124!

no, never that, my buddy (same friend that so-called saw the 124 on the 22's) has a 2005 impala on 22's, so i think he jus wants me to join him. However, im in a totally different class. I'm just trying to mod my car out to the point that it kind of competes when i pull up to the light next to a 2000 clk with just wheels or stock.

I'll probably end up going 19's, the 20's are a stretch. I doubt ill get 18's unless i get a good deal, but if i go out and buy a new set, it will definatley be 19" or 20". NO 22's.

I have the 5-spoke 17 replica amg wheels now.

I think 19's would be a stretch...18 is already pushing it. 19's fit well on 500 fenders however.

Sounds like a plan. I already have the side skirts. I should give Sanders a call and see if he can source it for me. I'd like to keep white though... Although, I wouldn't mind a gunmetal/dark color.

The best you can do ever

The worst thing you can do ever is changing your standard wheel size. First of all you are going to lose comfort driving sensation, you are going to lose it all ¡¡.
I know of people that did a tyre change to bigger and then get themselves to put the original and waste more money because of sickness of it.

And dont forget that wider wheels get more friction so your car will be slower. In acceleration you will lose too much; and your fuel consumption will raise due to the engine doing more stregth to move it because of the bigger friction¡¡¡.

ooooh! that explains why all race cars use bicycle-thin tires! here's a pic of one of the slowest cars in the word, mainly due to his tires:

wider wheels mean more TRACTION

WOW. Godfather your car reminds me alot of mine, but your information is wrong. All my rims exceed 8"s and my drop is lower than yours and guess what- they don't rub. And yes that did sound a bit racist as I'm black myself and I'm not even into Caddys and Buicks, but I do love my lifted Explorer Sport

Well damn, you just done messed up the stereotypes!

I had HR springs and Bilstein sport shocks, #1 pads all around I think. Dunno he offset on the wheels, but I think it was 38.

As for wide wheels/traction, you have a larger rotational mass, so yes, you need more power and gas comsumption will rise. But you get stability and traction
