MB quart component speakers, good or no good?
From reading the posts I've come to realize that the MB quart brand is a popular one among the people here. I am shopping for speakers for my car and came across a pair of component MB quarts DSE 216 for $100. Can someone who has used these tell me how they sound and what they're made of? do they have paper cone or some other material? I ask that for durability reasons.
For my speakers I've narrowed my brands down to MB quart, Alpine, infinity. it is going to be one or a combination. I am going to install
-6 1/2" components in the doors with tweeters flush mounted somewhere on the doors.
-4" 2 or 3 ways in dash
-5.25" or what ever I can squeeze in the rear deck.
BTW do you have to take out the rear deck to get to those speakers in the back?
thanks
I also need advice on wiring these. right now what I have in mind is this. I have a 4 channel amp that runs at 2 or 4 ohm. so I was thinking to put the dash speaker in parallel with the component in the front giving me a 2 ohm impedance and connecting it to one channel. (one channel per side so there's the left and right fronts) and the two rear channels will run the speakers in the rear at 4 ohm unless I find 2 ohm speakers.
Edit: I have also started looking at Polk Audio and Diamond audio. any brand recommendations?
thanks

I've had MB Quarts in two of my cars. I loved them. Their Discus line (i.e. the ones you're looking at) are their lower-end speakers, but if you're in that price range, those will be the best speakers for your money, IMO. They are especially clean and accurate with the highs.

I have run MBQ twice. The last time was QSD 3 ways in my 300, they are very accurate and crisp, but over longer drives the tweets (even set at -6db) are a little on the harsh side for me.

Thanks for the replys guys. After looking around MB quarts are simply too expensive for me. I have decided to go with Alpine Type-R SPR-17LS on ebay. But I have to cut the back of the door enclosure to fit the magnet and hope it doesn't hit the window. specs here:

This was basically a draw for me between polk audio, infinity, and alpine. I know alpines last a lifetime and I got a chance to listen to them at bestbuy. I was sold on the solidity of the woofer and how nice it plays the lows.
So I might just get some type S 4" for the dash and put them in parallel with these and run my amp at 2 ohms. Any comments on how these will work in parallel with some low wattage 4" speakers?
