Just got this in today
Going to be part of my Halloween costume, and also what I'm going to wear to every Rally and SCCA event I run from now on. Just to represent, you know?

Got one for my dad too, thinking he'll get a kick out of that. I think he had to turn in all his shirts when he went from service manager to sales.
The only problem now is, I actually have to honor that shirt and learn how to work on my car a bit more than I do now. I really only do bare basics :\

Does anyone know the dimensions of the fog lights for the Gen I AMG front bumper cover?
Would a light of this dimension fit?
5-5/8" Wide x 4" tall x 2-3/4" deep
(lights in question)
http://www.etrailer.com/Lights/Optro....html?feed=npn
Basically, I can get these aux lights for about 20$ and wire them up for the upcoming rally. If they are of the proper dimensions to fit in a Gen I cover, then I'll most likely definitely get them.
Would likely pair them with the QA-15AT lights, which are the same body etc but with amber glass instead and a fog beam pattern.
http://www.etrailer.com/Lights/Optro...T.html?feed=pn
Hoping these would help to increase light output an appreciable amount.

Wow, thanks for the find Ed. And those are the same ones that are being sold on Ebay ( just the lenses) for 260?
So, these Bosch Pilot 150 pencil beams are the same as what would fit in the GEN I bumper, but different beam pattern?
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...Q0KMANJTA3DEGN
I'm toying with running both sets of lights installed in the lower front bumper and hoping that since they are Bosch and were available for the car that I'd be able to have them on without police issues.

The housing fits into the recess of the GEN I ( see below ) and the bolt goes through the hole in the GEN I.
The lamp assembly then is held into the housing by screws that hold the side lenses on.
I've got the clear and the amber so I can trade off...probably will use the amber with the French headlights..

Thanks for the pics & confirmation, I might move on these then. Mounting them is going to be a fun project since I don't have the proper bumper cover, but I have an idea how I'm going to handle it.
What is the wiring harness the real ones came with like? These kits come with a relay and some wires that are the flat ends. I'm thinking I'll put those around the pegs on the 6-pin connector that goes to the Euro housing and tap into the leads for the Fog and High beam so I don't have to run and tap in extra switches inside my car.

Me, I'd recommend going with the amber to match your awesome headlights

Wiring depends on how you want the lights to function.
You could disable your high beam and wire direct to the bumper mounted driving light.
Not sure if your state DMV inspection would approve !!
Or tap the lead from the high beam or fog light and run to the coil of a relay with the other side of the coil going to ground.
Run a new power feed from the battery through an in line fuse holder and to the normally open contact of the relay.
The other side of the contact will feed the power to the bumper lights with the other side of the lights going to ground.
The kit gives you a switch, relay and wiring to install independent of the lighting circuit.
I'm considering the wiring from my headlight cluster amber driving lights to the amber bumper driving lights via the relay.

Nice, I'll investigate what methods I have available soon Ed, thanks for the suggestions & pointers.
Right now, I'm trying to suss out a light bar but I lack welding and metalwork tools so..
Lights I got are the Optronics (36$ for both H3 Fog + H3 Driving kit). I would have preferred the Bosch units but for the price...
Edit: *****, just got bit with the "you get what you pay for" tax. The lenses for the Driving beam and Fog beam kit are both exactly the same! I'm going to have to call the company tomorrow. The part online shows a very different fluting on the lens for the fog kit. Thankfully, they have part numbers so I can order the correct fog lenses, but this should be gratis for me. Someone ****ed something up somewhere.

Double check the lug bolt size...
Later models use the M14..124's use M12

Ah, crap. Didn't know. Is the threading pitch the same at least? Because if not, I'd have to change my hub right?
I'll try and contact finishlinewheels and see what they have to say, if they even know.

If they have M14 bolt holes, you can get custom bolts that are M12 thread with an M14 ball or cone seat. Preferably they would have M12 holes though. No need to change the hub (and, I'm not sure that's possible anyway, although you could drill/tap for M14 bolts... which would be even worse.)

2010 Mercedes Benz e550 Exhaust Note (Recorded by yours truly :P)
Video Description:
This is a (poor) recording of a friend starting and revving the engine on the 2010 e550 Coupe we test drove. Unfortunately, I didn't have a better recording device on me at the time so this cellphone recording is all I have.
However, I took some time cleaning up the audio and fixing some of the clipping in Audacity so it is a bit more "clear" than it was straight off the phone.
I will hopefully bring along better recording equipment next time.

Make sure the width and offset are correct, and I'd also check the weight of the wheel... you don't want a heavy wheel.

I don't know of anyone that has those SLK wheels and the local dealership doesn't even have them in the store on the rim display rack, nor do they even have an SLK so I'm kind of lost on how I'm going to get a weight. I've asked finishline to post wheel weights before but they aren't interested in wasting the time on it :\
It appears the wheel number is 65361 and it is the front fitment at 17x7.5, so more or less ideal. I believe I saw the offset listed as 36/35 somewhere, but of course now I can't find that. However, it appears that the r171 SLK has offset listed as 35mm, so same as us

Just got these back today from Don Pirre @ CoatOfChrome
He managed to match the color/reflectivity almost perfectly as far as I can tell. I'm pretty excited
I think these are going to look AWESOME once installed in Bucky.
Also, he saved the mixture for the color, so if anyone else wants a set it'll likely cut off a few $$$ from what I paid.
Pairing these with Narva RangePower 50+ H3, supposedly one of the brightest H3s (in terms of lumens, no deg K).
No rally lights installed/set up. Bucky still running poorly. However, I think I'll still be able to place well in the PBX rally on Saturday. I'll hopefully have videos posted sometime shortly after. Running a 2-camera setup with PiP for viewing. I may even do side-by-side. We'll see.

Good news everyone
If you like how my fog reflector housings came out, Don said a pair will cost about 50$ US from here on out.
If you want to take advantage, I'd recommend you do, if only to make me feel better that I took the 300% R&D markup for you guys :P
