Whats the best way to lower my 87 300e and also where can I find the color code for my car? I have looked under the hood and door jamb can't find any reference. Also how hard is it to re cable my sunroof? I really have become addicted to this forum and find so many ideas about my 124 you guys rock.

the trend on this forum is to go for Vogtland springs and I'm sure someone will tell you to get Bilstein Sprints (sometimes called Sport or Yellows), although they are quite a bit more expensive..

FYI, i just lowered my car a month ago on H&R springs (traitor ) with Bilstein Sports. I like the firmness and it's not too harsh for me

Hope this helps mate, and welcome to the forum!

cheers,
jeff

1990 300CE, 1984 190e 2.3 (sold)
I had H&R on my old 190e and have them now on my CE. I've been very happy with the ride and performance. They are the sports, so they usually lower 1.3" front and back. Vogtland springs lower the car more than H&R (not sure how much), so it depends on what your going for. For shocks and struts i'd go with the bilstein sports....you get what you pay for.

Mercedes benz 1991 300ce(RIP), now an 89 300ce
is putting on new springs easy? is it just jacking up the car, pulling off the wheel, using a spring compressor to pull the spring off and put a new one on?

I never bothered with the spring compressor. not enought space there...lift the car ..get an extra small jack..disconnect the shock, then the control arm, spring will drop..do it backwards using the small jack to lift the control arm to its place.....Oh most important.. Dont use cheap springs
