New engine for 300e?

Is it possible nowdays to get a 91' 300e 2.6 re-done with a new engine and new transmission? Or nowdays is a rebuilt one the last option? Also approximately how much would that all cost?

trans rebuilt tend to run $1300-$1600
I've seen used engines for $1000-$3000
Rebuilt I would have to guess would run $2500+
Renntech will sell you one of theirs for $14000

Getting a new engine and tranny, the car will perform/feel alot better right? As if it was new? Engine isn't that bad anyways on it, although the shifting is pretty rough.

Chrisdpham once showed me a crate AMG M103 motor on german ebay. Just the picture alone was enough to make any MB enthusiast need to change their pants.

I guess I will change it later on. Would be awesome to hit the million mile mark and get the highest reward from Mercedes, Level 1 is 150,000 miles. Btw thanks everyone for the info
