I was thinking that too, but the hood and the small panels behind the front wipers need to be painted, so I think I'll hold off until I can shoot the whole thing. I can't decide if I want to keep the wipers or delete them. Decisions...decisions!!

I was told by a Benz dealer Mechanic that the 1992 & 1993 400E were the only benzes not governed limited to 150 - 155mph. Not verified, just a rumor

400E
for starters most of the parts arent after market like I said, I have spent DAYS tinkering with it, and the 290hp is composed of little parts like changing the intake hoses from foam to a carbon composite..things like that
the other parts like exhaust, axles, etc. are as much as I hate to say it bought for the 190E, chopped and re-fitted for the 4E
oh yeah as for the stock 275hp thing until you can show me where mercedes-benz says that my car has 269hp I'll go with the owners manual

I just found this. Not to argue, but up until 1992 the M119 engine in the 400E was a 10 to 1 compression ratio engine. Starting in Oct 1992 the M119 engine built for the 1993 model year 400E the compression ratio was raised to 11 to 1. This increased HP from 268 to 275. It also allowed the 400E to be removed the 1993 Federal Gas Guzzler list from a fuel economy increase.
Look closely at the link you provided and it will show the compression ratio change and the HP increase for 1993.
There is no mention of the Gas Guzzler list, but I recall this from Stu Ritters book on the W124.
