After seeing the spec sheet in german (which i speak), i can tell you for a fact that this is a 300E-24 sportline. It has a AMG ground effects kit, an AMG suspension, and a bolt-on AMG muffler. While these parts will effect the value of the car somewhat, you can't expect AMG-caliber money for this car. As Zorro has said 3 or 4 times, it isn't factory AMG. The engine is the heart and soul of any AMG vehicle.

i would say it is worth close to 8K. but not because it is AMG. Just because of the miles and because it is a sportline.

its not an AMG. it has AMG parts. monster difference.

back when, anybody cuold call AMG, order the parts they needed and put them on the car. even at the factory if they went to the right dealer. doesnt make it an AMG. but it does make it more interesting than your run of the mill 300E.

sorry to rain on your parade.

i have an old BMW 2002 parked here at home. if i put all alpina parts on it, i cannot call it an official alpina car because they didnt make it or modify it. as i recall there was a certain percentage of parts that had to go into a (preassembled mercedes, porsche (RUF) or BMW(ALPINA)) car in order to recertify it from another manufacturer. it was a loose formula but basically if it went to their factory that was one of the requirements. if it didnt, it wasnt. period.

Nope not yet, I don't think they really deal with that kind of car or atleast talking to people through e-mail. The e-mail base contact looked more for purchasing then trying to sell them the car. I called MB yesterday to see if I could get the itemized cost on the car.

Nope, I'd never spend that sort of money, especially not in 1996 when the car was brand new.... unfortunately had it stolen and never recovered...

He is a little crazy . The car, even if it was stock sportline, would be worth an easy 8k at that condition and mileage.

I can't make anybody happy on here for some reason..... Its just not use argueing it. Also no one wants to talk about how this could be the precursor to the sportline, and proves that they used an AMG suspension. Didn't the sportline come out in 1993?

AMG actually used the MB Sportline coil springs in some of their cars.

I believe the Sportlines were available in Europe prior to their N. American appearance.
