Thinking about 19's

Hey everyone,
I'm thinking about changing my wheels again. It seems that all the ones that catch my eye are starting at 19". Anyone done 19's? If so please post a pic and wheel & tire sizes and any comments you have about how it drives.
Thanks,
Joe

Think again, you will loose all ride comfort. I have 18's and I don't even think I would go that large again unless the roads were paved like glass. These cars were not desinged for wheels this large, not to mention the extra rolling mass you have, it would be best to upgrade the brakes to compensate for these larger wheels. 17"-18" is best IMO.

The ride comfort thing has been on my mind. That's the only reason I haven't done anything yet. I'm supposed to take a ride in a couple of cars that have 205-35 series rubber just to get an idea.
As for the brake issue, not worried about it. I have 600SL Silver Arrow edition brakes going on, and along with the power of the twin turbo the performance side will be compensated for.

Shiiiiiiiit, those brakes will rock. I have 235/45's and with the rougher roads, they can be a bit rough. Another problem I find with that wide of a tire is that on roads with tracks, ie hwy, the car will pull itself into those channels which can be annoying, and even alarming at times.

I go back to 1988 on the 300CE with +1 and +2 wheel /tire packages.
Started in 1989 with 17" Borbet Type A and 215/45ZR-17 Dunlop D40/M2's.

Just installed 225/40-18 Falken FK-452's on 18 x 8 rims.

Choice of tire is critical to ride quality.
The Falken FK-452 is a high performance "luxury" car tire.
Aggressive tread with great performance, low noise and quality ride.
Conversely the Dunlop D40/M2's were like riding on concrete !!!

if you want to go 19's you will have to go with amg fender spacers or you'll have bigtime rubbing issues in front. the widest you can go in front is 8". I have 17 x 8 d93 with 235/40 falken tires and its really close in front. 19 and 18's will really look great but believe me when you keep on rubbing the front and with that bumpy ride you just wish you never pursued with this plan. offset is a bigtime issue with this 124 that we have ...specially in front...I've been there....good luck!

lots of cars
If you want 19" go with 19x8 38-40mm offset and a 225-35-18 tire...

Dude, as long as the wheels are hubcentric they will ride fine.
My 500E is rollin on 19" Auto Couture's, i've got 275's in the rear with no issues. In fact they ride better than the stock 16's. Kinda gives the car a gangster look.

Damn, bigbiz, coming on here with your 275s talkin like it's easy breezy..haha us non 500E, wimpy fender owners have to stick to 215-235 depending on ride height.

I think I need to buy a 500E500
