Did you order rear armrest speakers as well? SW has some I'm thinking of getting. The factory front doors sound as if they are sub's. I got MB Quarts for this location, however they are two way, and I'm a little relunctant to install because of crossover issues and all. Stephan from SW, said they will work fine, so I dunno....
The ones I ordered for the rear were the Rainbow SL100. Again, fingers crossed.

I loaded a 12 foot tree from Home Depot last month. The guys working there who helped were taking pictures and were in awe that I would use a Mercedes for the task. Loaded it in the cargo area, and it hung way out, wish I had a pic. These cars are great!

Nothing happens when reverse is engaged - drive/forward gears operate normally. I've checked what the parts cost is on a reman MB with 2/24 warranty - ouch - $4100. Doesn't include install or torque converter if needed.

It's going to mbenzman's shop for the fix tomorrow. At this point, we're speculating that the clutch pack has deteriorated, possibly due to the minor rearend fender-bender I learned about just prior to purchase (it didn't show up on the carfax as the repair was only $1500 or so and paid for by the other driver). Either way, the tear down begins in the morning.

On a positive side - once this repair is done, I know it won't need anything further tranny-wise for some years to come.

The bills are adding up fast on this recent acquisition, but since I'm picky and want things done right, I'm not going to skimp on repairs and maintenance.

I used European Transmission for a reman a few years ago. He advertises in The Star. My Indie shop put her in. I didn't spend more than a couple G's. It was a few years ago however. Good luck. That's a bummer. Good thing you've got a positive attitude about it.

Well...I like the car. It's got a familiar feel to it (since I'm a long-time MB owner) and there isn't anything else that I'd rather have at the moment, save a W211 E55/E63 Wagon. But, I like my CLK55 too much to cut it loose and get the AMG wagon.

I saw the info on European Transmission and their prices are very fair. Once the reapir is made, I'll be set transmission-wise for years to come. My plan it to keep this car 10 years or so.

It would be tough to use an AMG as a true Kombi. I've been able to keep mine very nice in the 10 years I've had it. No dents or scratches. I get it de-dinged whenever one shows up. (usually from the airport) I've hauled about everything you could imagine including full sheets of plywood. (tailgate open of course) I have used the roof rack for a canoe, amongst other things. I can't see doing that with the 211 AMG. Sure would be a nice ride though eh? Overall, I really haven't seen anything I like better, or I would have bought it by now. The utility of the Kombi will keep them on the road longer than a sedan.

Oh boy, that is the best color combo IMO. I wish I had the tan color instead of the gray. Very nice Kombi, but it would look perfect with some Euros. It would be a great safety addition if you are giving it to an "older" person such as your father, being that they will have less than perfect night vision.

Do you have TEX? Holds up well in the Kombi.

It was down here this Fall. The guy I sold it to is in Charlotte, so I picked it up there when I bought it back. Last month I swapped it for the 95', so now occupies the garage in VA.

Yep, I was specifically searching for one with MB Tex...dribbles and slobbers clean up easier that way.

Thanks,

My 95' has gray leather and I like it with silver. Weird how colors look better in different places. The 91' looks great at the beach and in the hill country of Texas. The color just goes with the surroundings.

Thanks for the Euro suggestion. I had thought about it but forgot. One drive at night and I would be reminded. Dad is in Minnesota, and I know he would need the headlight washers. Are the Euro's compatible? He drives a 91 300E sedan now, so he's used to the lights.

Well, the wiper arms need to be from 94-95 models... I think the motors will work but need to switch sides. Whenever I drive in a w124 that does not have euros, I am shocked about how poor the lighting is. It is the first upgrade I recommend to any mercedes owner. I have put in about a half dozen euro headlights in various w124's and I think that it is really the only flaw to the car in stock form.
