Bumping an old thread!

The TE has been treating me good. Looks like this currently.

I put like 1500 miles a month on the car now...

I picked up at the junkyard a later style updated rear bumper with the chrome strip. Couldn't believe I found it in such good condition and in the right color too! They are pretty rare to find

Once I put my AMG Gen I kit on the 260E, I will use the bumper + skirts and put it on the wagon, then all I need is just the side cladding and its updated. Should look really nice

To complete the update, you may want to find the rear lower hatch plastic strip with chrome trim. It mounts with screws while the early plastic strip has riveted clips.

My update is complete, I just need to color match the front grey bumper to a silver grey or go ahead and paint the bumpers and cladding black depending if/when I get the 500E fenders installed...

Yeah, I love the wagon because I am a college student.

The frequent trips to the bay area, hauling my crap to and from home, its a very versatile machine!

I read every page of this thread yesterday so I guess I'm a certified wagon lurker. Currently I have a 95 E300D and I've had several W201s and W124s and had a 91 wagon but it was only and inbetween car - but ever since I got rid of it and after looking at this thread I really want another one badly, the kids love the 3rd seat and the wife hates it when I get older cars and lower them so it should really **** her off.

I spoke to the gentleman with the red one for sale in the for sale section of the forum, I wasn't really thinking of a red wagon with black interior but the high mileage is a good fit. That's the other thing, I have a wrecked 95 E300D that I would like to swap into a W124 wagon. I know, I know, most engine swaps are with high HP MB motors but I love the 606 diesel engine and we all know that 87 was the only year MB sold a wagon diesel in NA so I thought it would be a neat project to hook up a nice wagon with this 606 power-plant I have available - then I would have my own one of a kind diesel wagon.

Anyway my search might be to narrow - I'd love to find a black with grey bottom or maybe dark blue, 94/95 (but would consider 90-93), cream interior (I've had grey MB tex in the last few, ugh) and it must have an outstanding exterior and interior with a blown or high mileage motor that makes sense to swap out. So my search will continue and we'll see what happens. Anyway it seems like a great crowd and maybe one day I can officially jump in. Below are my 16V and 300TE from 2 years ago, my white 92 2.6. ,white 95 E300 along with the wrecked green 95 E300. I really don't know why I've had so many white ones, just worked out that way.

Found this outstanding example yesterday, no need for an engine swap but I love the color and the cream interior.

Hate the fact that its at a small used car lot, hate that...

So I went and looked at this 94 wagon today, overall nice car. 138K on her, no body damage and not even a lot of scratches or small dents really. Coolant was the right type, brake fluid even looked fresh. Inside was very nice, dash and wood looked good as with the carpet and seats. The seats have the lumbar action going on and it had a stock cell phone in the center console - this was a nicely appointed ride back in 94. That's my white 95 E300D in the background, the owner wants it for himself but I'm having trouble handing over the diesel.

My only concerns are:

1 - The a/c worked BUT the air was coming out of the defrost vents instead of the center vents even though they were open.

2 - The ASR light was on, I'm not even sure what that is exactly.

I haven't checked the windows yet and I have not taken it out on the freeway, thats tomorrow. I like this ride...what else should I be looking for? I do not have a lot of service records to go through so I can't tell if any AC work has been done or if the wiring harness has been done. And whats up with no rear headrests?

Thanks guys!

Interesting Chappy - so did you also adjust the sls by way of the 'arm' on the sway bar or you just adjusted height by cutting the springs. And how much did you cut, 1/2 a coil, a whole coil?

I can appreciate what you did as it takes work to get it just right

Thanks!

95 E320 wagon rear clunk

Just did the rear accumulators and now there is a loud "clunk" on every bump. Shock bushings? Sway bar? Solution please!

That's a nice car. Most of these had a head gasket replaced early on to correct bad factory gasket. Any service records? How much $$$???

No service records as this was a trade in. The guy wants $5,400 for it with 138K miles. He actually wants my diesel so I'm going to trade him my 95 E300 with 235K + $800 for the wagon, that's the initial conversation we had anyway.

1995 E320 wagon
My wagon is bouncy as well, seems like there's no damping left. Time to replace those nitrogen sphere's?? they're like $124 a piece.

Oh hey Chappy, as you cut your OE springs, how many coils did you cut off and how does it ride? I know these are progressive springs so I was concerned if it made the ride harsh or not?

I will get eibach springs for my 260E....but I don't want to drop the wagon that much...just a little to get it sitting nice.

Not yet, I'm still considering a shock replacement. I found one close in dimensions and stroke so I just need to fab mounts. The big challenge is to add a sort of ball joint as done on the factory shocks. They seemed to design for more angles of motion on the TE compared to other SLS with more conventional shock mounts...

My tech (mbenzman on here) did all the work. I don't remember how much in total was cut from each spring, but he removed, cut and re-installed them 3 times to achieve the right stance.

I have him free reign on the suspension.

As to the SLS: Initially, it was disconnected. Later, when my accumulators were shot, he re-connected and adjusted the system after installing a 500E rear swaybar. At that time, we put in new Bilstein Sports up front.
